I already changed the aos 2 years ago. I dont think it needs changing again as I don't use the car much. Is there a sure way to tell if it needs changing?

Connect a digital manometer to the oil fill cap and measure the crankcase vacuum at idle; should be 5 inches of water or less.

i think you should replace the fork as well. for around $35, get the updated version so you will not end up with somthing like that down the road.
