So.....once installed, the cups used must be larger at the top than at the bottom, since there's nothing supporting the bottom of the cup?
IF so, (don't get me wrong, your work is excellent) but I think it could be problematic to take the cup out and drink while driving. Could be difficult to grip the cup's "lip" to remove it IF the cup's rim sits too close (ie: low) to the circular ring that supports the cup.
But since you're probably designing it for YOUR OWN USE and have a specific cup in mind. As a commercial design, it might not be as flexible for other cups.
Still EXCELLENT work and a nice personal solution.

There is a bottom support for the cupholder. It's an "L" shaped piece that goes into a slot in the back of the cupholder ring. That's what I was talking about when I said I didn't have the bottom support installed when I took the pictures.
In this screenshot from tinkercad, you can see the bottom supports and the slot they go into. They fit in so tightly that they need nothing to hold them in, and Hulk couldn't pull them back out.

For ABS 20% infill should be more then good enough but I wouldn't go higher then 40%

The link still works for me on my computer. However, it doesn't work when I click it on my iPhone.
By the way, does everybody have that gap between the upper dash and the center, or is my car just weird that way?

They all do.
Did you set the thing as public or private?

That could be the problem. I had only used the "share" link. I have now published it. That might make a difference.
For everybody: I will publish the entire set once it's done, which should be in the next few days.

You going to have something for the cup/bottle to sit on at the bottom?
Still think the part at the L is going to be your weakest point. Instead of it being a square on that inside corner, make it an inside filet (sp?) Will give it more strength.

I also did a slight redesign of the bottom supports.
What do you think?

Personally I would make it a 1 piece model for each cup vs 2 piece. Print with supports, it's why they exist. 1 piece is more secure then 2 pieces.

Got them finished, and they're pretty good, if I may say so myself. The tops of the bracket arms have kind of a rough texture. I somehow managed to accidentally print them without supports, and that's how they came out. I don't want to sand them, because I don't want to make them thinner and weaken them. I think I'm going to either print cap pieces to cover them or use a bit of bondo, sanded and painted. I'll try the printed cover pieces first.
The bracket doesn't need anything to help hold it in place between the dash parts. It wedges in there securely as is.
They're a little bigger than a normal 12oz can.
I've only tested them with a few different size cups. I know they won't fit the big cups from Sonic. The smaller bottom part of those cups fits in, but the larger part prevents them going far enough down into the holder to be secure. I don't drive around with those things much anyway. Only if I'm just transporting them home. Medium sized styrofoam cups fit, but are tight (Sonic cup on the right). They fit a medium paper cup perfectly (Subway cup on the left).
When they're not in use, they fit easily in the armrest.

I could entertain purchasing it pre-fabbed... since I don't own a 3-D printer.
How much would you charge for the item, absent shipping? Could it be made in a color of choice? Thanks.

I don't want to go down that rabbit hole, specially since I'm pretty new to this 3D printing stuff. However, I also shared this project in the Facebook Porsche Boxster Owners Group, and one of the owners there is preparing to offer it to the community for cost+shipping. Filament comes it all kinds of colors, so if you're able to get him to make you one, you'll just have to work that out with him.
If you're on Facebook, join the group and when he gets started you should see him posting about it.

Here's a picture with the covers installed. Gives it a much more finished look and probably adds a little strength too. (Yeah, I know. I really need to clean out the car. Probably doing that today, if I feel well enough. Yesterday a pickup truck towing a trailer full of cows pulled over in front of me on the highway, and just then, one of the cows with its back end up against the rear of the trailer took about a 5 gallon piss. It's probably not good for the paint to leave it too long before washing it!)

If you have someone make these make sure it is with ABS not PLA. PLA will warp & break.

I made mine with ABS. The guy on the Facebook group says he plans to use PETG. I'm not having him do it. All I did was share it, and the link to it on Thingiverse. What people choose to do with it is up to them, right?

Dont have facebook so not sure what someone there is going to charge for costs + shipping. Just sliced this and it came to a cost of about $5 in materials for ABS. If it were me though I always add in the cost of maintenance of my printer, factor in a print failure rate of 20% (low end with ABS) and time/effort. I would put something like this with someone elses design of around $20 + shipping. if I were doing it.
I am going to print one to see how well it does and if I have to do anything different then just print. Looks like to print everything each one is going to be 15 hours total.
