So.....once installed, the cups used must be larger at the top than at the bottom, since there's nothing supporting the bottom of the cup?

IF so, (don't get me wrong, your work is excellent) but I think it could be problematic to take the cup out and drink while driving. Could be difficult to grip the cup's "lip" to remove it IF the cup's rim sits too close (ie: low) to the circular ring that supports the cup.

But since you're probably designing it for YOUR OWN USE and have a specific cup in mind. As a commercial design, it might not be as flexible for other cups.

Still EXCELLENT work and a nice personal solution.

There is a bottom support for the cupholder. It's an "L" shaped piece that goes into a slot in the back of the cupholder ring. That's what I was talking about when I said I didn't have the bottom support installed when I took the pictures.

In this screenshot from tinkercad, you can see the bottom supports and the slot they go into. They fit in so tightly that they need nothing to hold them in, and Hulk couldn't pull them back out.
