I work for StandardAero which is headquartered in Scottsdale. We have a big site with 1,200 employees in Winnipeg. Get a job there and maybe we can get you transferred south. ;)

Cleaned all glass and Zaino Z6 detail sprayed the hell out of her...

I know, your next question is why the hell did I retire in Winnipeg. All I can say is, it is my home. I was down in the Phoenix area last March visiting my sister who spends 5 months a year in Mesa. She loves it down there. |
Put my hard top on

and went out for a quick spin. Recorded my top speed on my phone's speedometer app. (Actually, I was in Japan a few weeks ago, recorded that top speed while on the Bullet Train from Kyoto to Tokyo!)

Slowly but surely
I've only had my Boxster for about 2 months. I cleaned it, waxed it, upgraded the stereo (about to redo the entire sound system), replaced headlights and tail lights, replace wheel center caps, replace all trunk lifts, about to install mesh headrest inserts and paint rotors, added etched glass decal and valve stems, about to add rear diffusers/splitters....I love this car and by the Summer of 2016 I expect to have one of the best ones on the road!!

Nice! You've done a lot in 2 months. Did you research those LED headlamps before buying? I've read some of them have had quality/burning problems.
I am very close to pulling the trigger on new headlamps as I need to get rid of the pre-2003 ambers that are on my 2003. I've been thinking of just buying the OEM halogens and converting them to HID (my ambers are converted), or maybe just leaving them halogen with Osram Night Breaker bulbs. |
As they say in these parts. Goin out for a rip. Last spirited drive then away for a week while were spending Christmas in Banff. Waay tooo far to drive it there but, someday.
MERRY to YA`ll  |
Fingers crossed

72 and sunny yesterday- in WVa of all places! I had to drop the top and do some last minute shopping
|
Santa dropped off a short shift kit so it would have been rude not to install it :)

Converted fog light to HID as if you use regular halogen, you will bake/boil the fog light housing due to heat. Or you can choose not to use the fogs |
Light dangers??

What wheels look best?????
I've finally found some wheels that I think I'll put on my 2001 Boxster. I'm upgrading to 19" but I'm a bit torn...here are some illustrations of what I'm debating. There are 2 slightly different ones that I'm debating...all thoughts are welcome.
The ones on the FRONT or REAR???? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1451093490.jpg |

HID low beam looks so much better IMO. many people had halogen fog lights.....too much heat and boiled/baked the area under the bulb. I'm not sure if HID has less heat but people that used the fogs with HID hasn't had the paint boil/bake issue.....then again my info is from the very inital sets that were sold. These have been out for a few years now and the manufacturer may have corrected this already. Either way, HID low's and fog's were awesome |
I vote for the front, are these the Carrera Sport wheels?

The Wife wanted some "Wings" for Christmas. After all she is my Angel. So I gave them to her. Together we installed Her "Wings" on Her cars on Christmas day. They turned out pretty nice.

New Years Day drive
Took my 01 Boxster S out for a New Years day drive the other day. Just got around to snagging a few frames of video I took. Arivaca Rd from Amado, AZ to Arivaca, AZ is a great roadster trip. See the 3 pics. 1 of which almost ruined my day. Had he hit me I would've had evidence for sure. :)http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1451843928.jpg
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1451843947.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1451843993.jpg Another foot or two and I would've been in the brush avoiding him. |
Whoa! Glad nothing happened!

Mesh headrest
I added the mesh headrest to my 986...it's soooooo cool watching how these little upgrades are slowly but surely giving my Box the look and feel of a true "sexy Porsche"

Egads!! Drove the Boxster in the rain today
I hope I didn't ruin it  Raining cats and dogs here in San Diego today. We are expecting 2-6 inches over the next few days. Handled great, even with really wet roads. Probably somewhat due to the fact my tires are new |
Wet roads, Jay? Really? REALLY?!
Sheesh...you folks in the southwest react to rain worse than we do to ice, haha! :D |
Good gawd it's raining in Phoenix and is supposed to for FIVE days.....and yes I drove the Boxster in the rain. Fun to do so as I don't get the chance to do so very often.
|
I used to live in Sierra Vista, AZ and always got a kick out of all the slow drivers and accidents that happened when it would rain. :p

Yo do know I was being facetious  The Boxster is my DD and I drive it year round. It just doesn't rain much in San Diego. If I was in a cold climate, I would still drive it year round. At the end of the day, it is still a car, not something that needs to be put to sleep for the winter |
Yeah, I don't get it either. I don't daily drive mine, no matter the season, but I do keep it off of the salted main roads in the winter. ;)
I was going to take it for a romp around the neighborhood today, but the battery was dead...oops! Not sure what happened, but it's been on the charger all day and we are getting freezing rain tomorrow. That won't stop me. I've got the itch. |
I replaced one of the micro switches in my spare key fob. Now it works flawlessly!

PS, if I was anywhere like San Diego I would use it everyday as well. |
Stared at it in the garage before leaving for work. Counting down the days til Friday when I can drive it again.
