Last 3 days installing secondary cat delete pipes. Used Circuit Werks and they fit perfectly. What a royal PIA getting the flange bolts off after 13 years. There was so much weld on the top bolt. It is not a couple hour job when you have lay on your back.

I let my 21 year old use it for the week while his car is in the shop.

engine detailed
spent Sunday afternoon detailing the engine, actual detail is cleaner than picture showshttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453347718.jpg

Went to where I store the boxster car this morning (wow). I've actually removed the car cover and wanted to start it up. 3.5 months without turning. Noticed that the battery is nearly toasted by looking at the half dead dome light. Didn't even bother to put the key in the ignition I know it'll just click-click on me :/
Front tire flat as usual (slow leak). Bird crap all over the car cover, ruined. Nice start of the day. Think I'll need to grab a pair of new tires on my next Car-Mall visit and that's what I did for my Boxster today. Nothing lollll |
Installed new custom hood crest.

Got half my heated seat working - so I went for a drive up the mountains to make sure it was working! A lovely SoCal winters day!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453697437.jpghttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453697491.jpg

interestedparty | eBay HOLIDAY SPECIAL - Reduced Pricing on Custom Refinished Hood Crests! - Rennlist Discussion Forums I got mine for $41.01 :) It did not come with a gasket or nuts but I got them for very cheap with my next parts order. And I think for $5 or so he will add them, I didn't know that at the time though. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453732231.jpg My hood doesn't look quite as nice as the one above :) |
Thanks Steve! I will have a look.

First drive top down this year [emoji1] [emoji1] After -5 °C and a bit of snow last week we had a sunny day with +15 °C today in western Germany. I loved it [emoji274] [emoji274] [emoji1] [emoji1]

Had a great weekend at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway with the San Diego PCA
2 days of hauling ass on a great track https://youtu.be/GI9rVhSv0bo |
Gave her a bath. Really I wanted to clean the roof so that i could put some 303 fabric guard on it, but I ended up cleaning the whole car. Funny how that always happens.

Oh, what did I do to my boxster today? I ordered brake parts. |

I would love to run Laguna Seca one of these days. We do have some great tracks down here, Buttonwillow, Willow, Spring Mountain and of course Chuckie That's exactly why I keep a set of pads I removed that still have around 40-50% left in my track box. What pads are you running on the track? |
Quote:
Back when I started reading the racing section on this forum I read to run stock brake pads starting out until they were done. That is what I did. Like you, I plan on putting the take-offs away to have a "yardstick" for the future. |

My colleagues and I just watched your vid and literally blasted by this track. Some of its apex' cambers and elevations looks totally insane. Can only imagine... jealous man :/ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiKl1uH0aBY. FW at 10:00 when his tires are hot. I'm so going there one day, really hope) |
Finally got my '99 Boxter leak free! To date I've cleared the drains, repaired a tear in a rear drain tray, repaired door vapour barriers and finally adjusted the Driver's window (RHD) forward 2mm and up 2mm to bed it into the top seal when closed. No more leaks!!
Storm Jonas has hit Ireland today so we'll see just how successful I've been! |
My windows stopped dropping the normal 1/2 inch when opening the doors.
I decided to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes to see if it would solve the problem. It did. |
I'm very jealous of all of you warm climate members as you get to enjoy this car for most if not the whole year. I'm anxiously waiting to get mine out of storage but as it seems that will not be until April here in the frozen tundra of MN....

Too kind brother. I would never use someone else's "Porsche" car to spin onto a circuit I'm not familiar with but certainly happy to take a ride with you as a passenger - given you don't throw that thing like you did in some of the corners as-per your video (I'd cry for my mum man). Somehow feel much safer onto a bike where I can quickly let go things and comfortably slide off in the run-out in the even of....! Very familiar with the wide open arms & legs sliding technique lolllll Low-sided min 10 times and sadly destroyed 3 bikes (high sides) during my last 20 years. Can I borrow your CBR instead?! :D Helen (wife) and I have a wed & newly born celeb to go too in summer of 2016 (CA). Date tbc. I'll drop by your home town for a weekend man. If not only to have a beer or two with you and I certainly want (need) to go visit that track :) Would be 2x cool if the track would be open for sessions at the time, fingers crossed man |

Not as many track events in the summer as some of the tracks are in the desert and , well it just get too friggin hot. Our PCA club does have some driving events in the summer, AX and back road tours |
Had it towed to an indy repair for healing. Hopefully this repair won't break the bank.

Changed the battery a few days ago, oil, and witnessed my indy stabbing my front tire to fix a slow leak (he found the 2cm miniature screw on the inner lip). Murder stuff... Need to get the car annual inspection done before 1st Feb so I went and refueled it up today. Central heating system seems defect, or it doesn't heat up like before that's for sure  |
Not much lately. Did take the opportunity with today's 43F sunshine to give the Box a quick bath. Driving it around here, even on dry winter days, results in a light salt dusting from the residue on the roads......shudder.
This weekend, driving to down to NJ to check out and likely buy a used set of clear halogens. Oh, how the non-model year appropriate ambers bother me so! |
New shoes
I finally put some new shoes on it. I put out a post to see which ones Boxster owners liked and it was close to 50/50 so I picked thesehttp://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1453941541.jpg

Spent the afternoon pulling off engine covers so I could vacuum out the RATS NEST!!
About 2 months ago cleaned up nest in the X3 engine bay. (Managed to catch a rat in a trap). 2 weeks ago a friend payed the dealership $1000 to remove the rat (dead) and mess from a 2015 Cayman S. It seems we have Son/spouse/brother... of dead rat - I found pile of leaves and wire insulation on garage floor last week so figured time to have a look in engine bay! I fixed a 3/4" plastic tube to vac out mess. Car seems to run fine. |

It chipped in transport but I got asked to prom tonight. (She asked me because she goes to a state funded boarding school for the arts :) ) |
