Installed ROW M030 sway bars on my 98 base. If you have stock bars RUN don't walk and get some on your car. This is definitely the way the car should be. :dance:

Did you replace anything else, particularly struts? I have M030 sways in the garage, but was waiting to get new struts/springs. Mine are at 58,000 miles, so old (15 years) but not terrible.

This may convince me to do the sways early...

CraigM; DO It! DO it now! I was thinking about waiting until I had the entire kit, but then thought I could assess each change individually. I can tell you without hesitation that even though I still have the stock springs and struts this change by itself is remarkable. Easy to do and don't even need to get an alignment afterward. Single most effective upgrade to date.

edit: P/N # 996 343 701 23 front and 986 333 701 21 rear for reference.

Beside it's just a car, cool one for sure but nothing to worry too much about. Not much can't be fixed on those little 986s

How difficult is in to remove old ones / install new ones?

Rear is super easy. You don't even need to remove rear tires. Place on ramps. Remove drop link and brackets. Rotate and pull out behind pass side wheel. Insert new sway. Torque brackets to 17 ft lbs, links to 35 ft lbs. Front is a little tougher. Place front of car on jack stands. Do not use Pelican example to remove the clips on the under panel. Small screwdriver in the recess in the end is the way. Remove one bolt forward end of the two frame braces, loosen the rear bolt and swing under the fuel tank. Remove the 3- 15mm bolts on the crescent bracket under the sway brackets. Loosen the 18mm bolt thru control arm bushing enough to pivot crescent bracket to clear. Remove drop link and rotate sway bar out. Reinstall sway. Torque 18 mm bolts to 118 ft lbs. Forward 15mm and the frame bolts to 74 ft lbs. and the 4-15 mm thru the sway brackets to 45 ft lbs. Enjoy a new car drive. Took me about 3 hrs with lots of water breaks.

Washed with Dawn to remove the old wax, clayed the paint and glass, polished, and waxed. I also cleaned the interior. I wanted to take the wheels off and clean the insides of them but never got there. Another day I guess.

IMS Retrofit, RMS, spare key done. Asked dealer to save original bearing and what do you know: a double row in perfect condition replaced by a new double row bearing������. Did I read somewhere the dbl rows had a 1% failure rate? FML!

The vast majority of people who do their IMS find their old IMS was/is just fine. With such a small failure rate - the odds were overwhelming that your old bearing would be just fine, so not sure why you are so surprised.

At least now you have piece of mind and don't have to worry about it.

a friend just had his clutch done on his 2001 Boxster S, he had the LN bearing lined up as a while you are in there. His dual row was just about to go, there was metal shavings in the ims chamber, he got pretty lucky

Just did the Bumper removal/Radiator clean
Had done it about 2 years ago. Wasn't as bad as the first time I had cleaned them

I am concerned at how beat up my bumper is getting
Bottom scraped up (not me), paint starting to flake and the attach points broken and torn
Does anyone try and fix these attach points? I thought about using fiberglass to rebuild
The ends, at the front wheels, are the worst

Check Tooltopia. They have a Airless plastic welding machine that even has a video on how to do the repair, otherwise body shop should be able to help.

Sucked it up and installed Hella smoked side markers today. $75 for the pair seems a little excessive but I guess its a $75 improvement in looks over the originals (especially on a grey car). Clear/smoked headlights Im restoring at the moment so still running the colored ones that came with the car till then...

Installed and polished Litronics headlights.
Used the Meguiars kit for polishing, not 100% satisfied. I'll polish them again this winter using the 3M kit.
But the car looks indeed way better with the Litronics :)

I got pretty good results using a video by Chris Fix. And its not just a cut and buff method, its new clear coat as well. This old fashion way seemed to give me better results than the mothers sanding disks system I tried previously on these same headlights. Additionally I did follow up by using the polishing ball that came with the Mothers kit and used the same cutting compound, polish and wax from the Meguiar's paint correction kit I used on my paint to get out the orange peel and give them a wax protectant. The clear headlights Im restoring now will get six light coats of clear coat not just the three that Chris did, and I did on these pictured, as they had more pitting that didnt come out with sanding. Just a thought...

Took down the For Sale sign yesterday before skipping town for the holiday weekend. Later, the little lady and I went for a midnight top down drive and enjoyed the stars and some early fireworks. Nothing like a midnight drive with the top down. :)

I need to mull it over for a while...

I replaced both the rear track arms on my 2001 Boxster S.

I used the 987 arms. They appear identical to the 986 ones. Only visual difference is the part number.

Today I did a complete detail starting with Lexol leather cleaner, then applied Lexol conditioner. I treated all the rubber with Lexol conditioner, cleaned the floor mats and vacuumed. I removed all the dried out, stuck on bugs with Goo Gone, then treated the whole car with New Car Glaze. I did the wheels and all the glass, brushed the top and used a lint roller on it. She shines and smells good inside. Tomorrow I'll take her for a good spin on a winding back road to listen to her howl.:cheers:

I was convinced that it was time to sell it and buy a used Toyota Yaris or something, but that midnight top down drive with the stars was really an eye opener. I used to do that a lot in the first couple years. :)

I still have a dilemma, though: my DD is about ready for retirement and I just can't drive the Box every day.
