Even with the tape they look fantastic lol.

Will be Monday before I get pics, supposed to rain tomorrow too. :(

KRAM36 05-24-2015 01:56 PM

She is still in the garage because of rain, but here are a couple pics. Kinda of hard to see the awesomeness with the car in the garage, but in person they are sweet!

Before

After

I painted the black rubber piece that goes around the light with some Rust-Oleum/Silver peel coat, same as PlastiDip.

Looks absolutely stunning! Takes a decade off the car, easily

One more car successfully de-halogened (I made up a new word). ;)

Yes it does take years off the car. With the head light and taillight change, the car looks much younger.

Thanks for the awesome job Charles!

Still need to get my bumper lined up right after the body shop didn't get it on correctly.

EJ-Fresno 05-24-2015 03:19 PM

How did you remove the amber of the head lights? Soldering iron?

particlewave built the lights for me in advance. He took the headlight lens off a set he had and removed the amber box in the headlight. When I got there, he removed my my headlight lenses and put them onto the units he had prepared for me.

Here you go:

http://986forum.com/forums/general-discussions/51810-our-amber-headlights-can-de-ambered.html

As Charles states in the thread, not for the faint of heart. I used sandpaper, which took a lot longer, but I felt a little safer. By hand is not really an option - need some sort of power. Took me a solid day per headlight working slow and taking breaks with the kids. Had a very sad amber winky face for a couple weeks till I had another whole day to do the second side.

My headlights did not need that done. Mine have the clear lens with an amber box inside of the light housing. Just needed the amber box removed.

Day 2 of being on the road

And my Depo tail lights came in the mail. Believe me, if I can figure this installation out, anyone can. Took maybe an hour...40 minutes for the first one and 20 minutes for the second one. I didn't mess with the wiring like some of you have been doing. Here's the before and after.

BruceH 05-26-2015 01:57 PM

KRAM, love the headlights! They make the car look much younger!

Wallace River, same goes for the DEPO tail lights, they look great! Now you just have to pick up some stealth amber turn signal lights to get rid of that last bit of amber!

I was online today at Griot's, looking to order some products after attending a detailing clinic put on by our local PCA chapter. I was going to order their detailing handbook but noticed they have a free PDF version! I downloaded it to my iPad which I have a mount for in my garage, perfect! I thought I would share since it is free and has some good tips and instruction:cheers:

Today I went to DMV to register and get plates for my new (to me) 2000 Boxster. Picked it up after work and now own my very first Porsche. Unbelievable.

We don't believe it until we see pictures.

Amazing what two good speakers can do to a sound system. Installed two Focal 165's into the doors - immediate improvement on the sound, big time. Next up, new Kenwood touch screen when my parts arrive from Euro Motorspeed.

EJ-Fresno 05-27-2015 06:29 PM

HAd my indy replace the AOS (which actually was in real good shape...) and the motor mount (which was totally ripped...) and clean the throttle body.
The car is not hicking up anymore when I am shifting :))

Fintro11 05-27-2015 07:48 PM

Thinking of getting Manzo headers, secondary cat bypass and exhaust system. Anybody have this and have any feedback ?

Deserion 05-28-2015 07:24 PM

Replaced the spark plugs, and did an oil/filter change.

Drove it for the first time since breaking my arm a couple of weeks ago. Then I put a bag over my hand and washed it :) Lint rolled, cleaned, and treated the top.

Door Courtesy Lights / DRL's / Ghost Lights / Footwell Lights

I've done a few projects over the last few weeks, and finally had a chance to take some pictures...

I added some DRL lights in the front, I fixed the missing door courtesy lights, and added some ghost lights to the doors as well (the Red Sox logo - which will be complemented quite nicely once I get my new etched, LED lighted wind screen), and added some Footwell lights (wireded to the dome light)... The info on this site was extremely helpful for the DRL and Footwell Lights...

Looks great!

Just out of curiosity, how did you end up attaching those ghost lights to the inside of the door since I presume yours is carpeted alsoSome kind of velcro or a clip?

Can you also tell me where you got the DRL's from please? Thanks.

Amit

Replied to your PM, but for others wanting to know the Ghost Lights I have attache thru a 1 inch hole I drilled in the bottom of each door and then are wired to the courtesy lights.

Those and the DRL's I purchased off EBay (though I am not 100% happy with the DRL's and may change out after I let them settle in for a bit more)....

Got a little maintenance done on my 98 at 86,400 miles. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1433558232.jpg
Changed the ORIGINAL PIERBURG water pump. Gasket had to be cut. The pump is in fine condition, bearing is good and all the vanes are intact..
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1433558371.jpg
Installed a new LN low temp thermostat, new hoses and fresh coolant. The old motor mount is hard dry and splitting. It wouldn't have gone much longer.

Unbelievably the most difficult part of the job was getting the ground wire off the fuel filter!! Parts total $850.00 a new Uview airlift and 6 hrs time and I know a lot more about the car service wise!!
