Fun stuff today. Pulled out the temp. control module and replaced the LCD screen using the ModuleMaster kit. Super easy and great results.

Also clayed the car for the first time. Lots of work and will admit, on a 12 year old car, sometimes you are better to leave a bit of dirt on there! Great, now to find some touch up paint.

Claying and waxing sure makes it smooth, but any paint blemishes will really show through. Oh - and if you have that 3M coating on the hood - be careful with the clay. It will stick get under the edge and make a mess. Go with the grain, not against it.

Installed the OBC stalk into the column assembly, wired it up with Pdwight's cable, and activated it with the Durametric. Success!

OK, the lights......there is a very fine line between Neat and Cheesy. I am 58 years old and I have to admit I like your lights. Did you have to drill a hole to install these and if so how did you treat the hole to prevent rust in the future ?

Thanks
Dwight

Headlight refresh. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1409491043.jpg

New pads all around, fluid flush and refreshed the paint on the calipers.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1409491099.jpg

And finally HID install.

Nice Job

Tell me a little about the Calipers and how you did that, also did you replace the decals or paint the Porsche on them ?

Also what is the rod sticking out from the wheel...a guide rod ??

That comes with your tool kit to help put the wheels back on the car. Little more difficult to do when not using.

I used VHT Red Caliper paint and some clear VHT. You can get the decals from eBay. Put them on before the clear;) Here are some links:

Just prepped & painted them with high temp enamel. They are decals I painted over with clear enamel.

gomarlins3 09-01-2014 04:35 PM

Bought my Weather Tech winter floor mats.

Giller 09-04-2014 09:38 AM

Got my CV's replaced (all 4) as 3 were torn as well as both my rear control arms. My box is A LOT quieter now going over those bumps! Price wasn't crazy at just under $1600 all in, but going to have to start learning how to do some of this myself.

Pdwight 09-04-2014 11:04 AM

Replaced my rear mud/rock flaps, got two new ones for like $120 shipped. 30 minutes it looks so much better.

I should have done this sooner....but I followed my maxim...fix any drive related issues before cosmetics

seningen 09-04-2014 01:31 PM

No one will mistake this one for a garage queen.

Put some numbers on the S.

Going to MSR-Cresson for my first PCA event in this car.

Cleaned the nasty fiberglass fluff off of my rear bumper. 200 miles on the new muffler and still coming out.

Also installed my home made $.85 bumper plugs

Blaupunkt Toronto 420 install so I can stream music. Used the stock amp.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1409923778.jpg

Looks ok for aftermarket. The engine sounds better.

Jager 09-06-2014 10:45 AM

Replaced the spark plugs today. It's much easier changing plugs on a Boxster than changing plugs on a big V8 with headers.

Now I am fiddling with the radio to hook up a USB for the car.

bobbeck 09-06-2014 02:06 PM

Cleaned the radiator debris.

It runs cooler now, the needle was at the end of the 0 in 180 prior, now it's in the middle of the 8.

Washed it for the first time since getting it back from the shop.

Was at the Cars and Coffee Plano/Frisco today.....http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1410090338.jpg

We took a road trip to Toronto to an all weekend concert festival. We started to pull into the wrong lot with some other cars. Security waived the other two cars away but motioned us forward. "Are you a guest of one of the bands?"

Of course we weren't, and it hadn't occurred to us until later that it must have been bcause of the card. Wouldnt have happened in the Subaru ;)

j.fro 09-12-2014 05:38 PM

Not really today, but got the pic today
Finished third on the day, but first in the Porsche class at PCA autocross...thought the photo was pretty good.

I went for a drive to the city and met a man with some books for sale.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1410624976.jpg

Then 'unboxed' them onto their own shelf.

Day 3

Drove to County Park and went hiking. Great day with the top down and getting outdoors.

MacGrad 09-13-2014 02:49 PM

Busy couple of days:

* tightened emergency brake
* loosened seat rails to get change that fell between seats and center console
* sent back the new head unit because i found a better one on sale
* drove 2 hours to do wrestling ring announcing in the rain (outdoor show)
* realized I need to replace my battery tomorrow when the engine wouldn't turn over after the show

* stared appreciatively at the young blonde who pulled up next to me in a 987. ;-)

CraigM 09-13-2014 08:23 PM

Cracked open a lot of good boxes:

160 degree thermostat
Underdrive pulley
Cat bypass pipes

While I was at it, cleaned the radiators and painted the front grill inserts.

Car looks better, sounds better, runs cooler, and pulls harder. Good couple of days.

gomarlins3 09-14-2014 01:25 PM

^Is that because the radiators are now higher in the air? **poke**

gomarlins3 09-14-2014 01:27 PM

Added grill guards after cleaning the radiators:

No racing today... Put her in the Classics on the Green car show! Lots of positive comments, but Jo love for the judges. Oh well, great day. Ferrari was featured, and there were a lot of them, along with a lot of other great cars.

Very nice. What front bumper is that?

flaps10 09-14-2014 06:34 PM

Did an oil change. Found a bunch of metal in my oil filter.

Crap.

:barf:

I guess I can look at the bright side. I know what I'll be doing this winter.

cmacduff 09-14-2014 08:18 PM

Just went through it myself. Sorry to hear.

j.fro 09-15-2014 01:35 AM

The bumper is a fiberglass 04 GT3 replica for Boxsters and 99-02 Carreras. I put the RS vents in front of the hood.

Giller 09-16-2014 04:09 PM

A little spit and some elbow grease and the muffler and tailpipe look shinny and bright again! Makes a huge difference. Can't wait to look out my office window tomorrow and not stare at a dark, dirty muffler/tailpipe!
