Finally got around to applying the roof protectant (Techquipment) last night, since it's been sitting in the garage for the past few weeks after I scrubbed the canvas clean. At least I can take it out, now. :D

Coaster 08-05-2014 12:19 PM

Washed and waxed (so it would rain - and it did - for all of 2 mins). Cleaned and add protectant to the top. Changed the oil, still need to cut the filter open and send in sample to Blackstone. Second time putting in DT40. Not sure what the analysis will show as I didn't flush the system from Mobile 1 before putting in DT40 for the first time last time. Had my indy read the cam deviation since I don't know when they were last serviced, left bank at 2.2 and right at 0 - so seems ok for now.

BoxsterSteve 08-05-2014 03:21 PM

I swapped out a wonky rad fan ballast resistor and front bumper corner trims & mud-flaps.
It feels great to DIY, not to mention the money you don't spend on labour.
The car is still filthy from my road trip to Indianapolis 2 weekends ago. Meh, I'll wash it later.

Box4two 08-06-2014 12:19 PM

Installed the new spoiler, had to realign the trunk lid just just a hair, but other than that it was a perfect fit.

I saw these when I first got my Boxster , your is the first picture I have seen of one installed. I was not sure if I would like it or not.......I do

Did you order it in your color or have it painted ?

Box4two 08-06-2014 12:41 PM

Ordered it already painted, I figured they couldn't screw up black paint!

Teddyonine 08-06-2014 01:41 PM

Please do- I have all black interior also: curious to see how that turns out.

mavis.d 08-06-2014 02:48 PM

Finally installed my oil pressure and oil temp gauges.

Also fixed a broken convertible top speedo cable.

Hoping I can monitor oil temps on track and determine if an external oil cooler is necessary.

AOS replacement, and Throttle Body Service. What a tight squeeze. Feels and sounds better though.

BirdDog 08-11-2014 05:59 AM

I was tired of hearing my wheel centers rattle (stock 17" twisties with colored emblem wheel centers) every time I hit a bump at low speed, so I pulled them, wiped the wheel and back of wheel center with isopropyl alcohol then ran a thin bead of Loctite 5900 flange sealant. No more rattling.

Used 5900 because I had some left over from a recent sump cover removal, it's gray, and sets up quickly. Time will tell how it will hold up to heat and vibration...

epapp 08-11-2014 08:28 AM

$40 and a semi-burning-plastic-smelling girlfriends oven later...

Very Nice epapp!

Toppy986 08-17-2014 05:12 PM

pulled the front bumper to clean the rads, while there routed the front pull cable to a point where I could reach it from under the front bumper

herve_g 08-17-2014 05:44 PM

Changed the radio ... got to get used to it.
Tomorrow I should receive new speakers so it'll be the next thing to go in :)

BirdDog 08-18-2014 05:33 AM

Finally finished installing the rear speakers (factory speakers with shelf from another forum member) on my 2001 Boxster S. Harness from Becker, white roll-bar clip from a local BMW dealer. Definitely improved the sound of the CDR220 in my Boxster!

gmboxster 08-23-2014 06:11 PM

Today, just the same ole same ole. Long top down drive on the local country twisting roads.

Hardtop at the paint shop color changed from Silver to Black

herve_g 08-24-2014 05:22 PM

Installed new dash speakers (sounds better).
Cleaned my old convertible top (plastic window) so I can try to sell it.

seningen 08-24-2014 05:32 PM

Passed inspection

My 11.5k mile 2002 Boxster with rebuilt engine passed inspection today.
Tomorrow I go get tags.

Not sure if I sell this or moth ball it for my daughter who starts high school tomorrow.

Lots of goodies in engine.
Nikisil, imsr, billet chain tensioner,
Low temp thermo, all
Wear items new.

Arguably better than rolling off factory line.

Came back home from a 3000 km trip through Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Lots of nice roads in the Alps 😎😎😃😃

Toppy986 08-25-2014 03:39 PM

I think I final got rid of pesky code P1128, I tried cleaning mass air flow sensor, took off throttle body and cleaned it, only to have the code stay away for a short time, every time I checked my throttle body to intake manifold book clamps, one seemed to loosen, changed the clamps, on the drivers side, cleared the code again, so far after 2 days of driving still good. keeping fingers crossed.

Dave2001S 08-26-2014 08:02 AM

Got up as usual to visit the gym, tried to start the beast, no-go. Spent $800 getting fuel pump and filter replaced. Next thing: need to replace the door latch mechanism to clear alarm faults. The cost of cool I guess.

BruceH 08-26-2014 11:57 AM

Changed the oil and filter. Added the LN spin-on adapter. The filter and magnetic plug were both clean:cool: I will send a sample to Blackstone. I also got rid of the last of my amber, replacing the amber bulbs on the side lights.

Finally, I removed my Euro plate. Seems some police officers don't have anything better to do. My wife and I were pulled over last week for having the plate. That was the only reason for pulling me over. He said that it is a fictitious plate, gave me a warning for "no plate" saying that was better than the fictitious plate citation since that can even include jail time! Give me a break. He said the plate looked good but I needed to put the "real" plate on, even though my Euro plate had my "real" numbers, the Texas emblem and looked just like the "real" plate. Now I am back to no plate:eek: Driving around, you can quickly lose track when counting the number of cars without front plates around here. Oh well.....

Installed the replacement frunk release actuator (thanks itsnotanova!). When reinstalling the right headlight after rerouting the emergency release, the frunk lid fell on my head. :( That smarts.
