Being dad taxi. Carting my kids between several birthday parties. It's no chore in a Porsche! All my kids friends going 'wow! A porche!' And even one saying 'a 911!'

Welcome home.

I've spent many Summers growing up visiting relatives in Germany and at 16 driving the great roads including the Nurburgring. Your going to miss those especially with your Boxster.

Hit the 100K mark on the clock this morning in the pouring rain.

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1403467542.jpg

Changed the oil, switching from my trusty Mobil 1 0W-40 to Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40, as recommended by the tech guys at Excellence magazine, for the M96 engine.

Just got her back from my indie also, who completed a suspension refresh with new Bilstein HD struts all around and new rear trailing arms. My front brakes took a beating at my last DE at MSR, so I got the front rotors, pads, and sensors replaced.

I’m hoping she’s good for another 100,000 miles, as the engine maintenance was zeroed out at around 80K, complete with new IMS bearing, water pump, AOS, coolant expansion tank and flush, and battery. The engine still runs strong and smooth, never any filings in the oil, the suspension is nice and tight again, and she’s still a damn good looker, to boot.

Are you serious?

You fly an MD80 through weather over 1000 miles and you wonder if I drive my Boxster in the wet? ;)

Scarlett is like the postman............"neither rain nor hail nor sleet nor snow nor heat of day nor dark of night" .....................(OK, maybe not sleet).

Just sayin'..........

Hardwired the Escort Smart Radar. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow on the way to the office

Washed my engine yesterday. Sprayed on some Dawn liquid detergent and lightly sprayed wáter to rise. I had a lot of trouble getting the top out of the way with theb glass window. The plastic window used to just fold out of the way. The glass widow wouldn't let me get it out of the way. Any hints with this?

60000 kilometres or 37000 miles :)

herve_g 06-26-2014 02:37 PM

Desnorkeled, scrapped my hands while doing it and then enjoyed the sound :)

gomarlins3 06-26-2014 02:57 PM

Had the headlight switch replaced and now the dash and rear license plate lights work.

Top_Ramen 06-26-2014 03:49 PM

Had some goodies come in from the mail today as well as placing my order for new tires, so I thought I'd share a bit. Front and rear hubcentric wheel spacers(7mm/15mm), clear sidemarkers, and also ordered Hankook Ventus Rs3 tires(225/45-17 in front and 255/40-17in front). I've never had ecperience with Hankooks personally but I've been hearing from a few track friends that for the price, nothing can beat it so I thought I'd give them a try.

Thank you! Nothing special(by Posche fanatic standards) but It's been a long road since I first got it. The car's paint when I origianlly got it from Florida was so destroyed I didn't think I'd be able to salvage it, but with some countless hours and patience she's shining!

Next up aside from the tires when they come in are some coilovers to tighten the car's ride.

particlewave 06-26-2014 07:34 PM

The paint looks great and I'm really diggin the black and silver monochrome look

Now get those lights de-ambered, haha!
Actually, I kinda like amber on black, but it would sure tie the front end in with the side markers and wheels.

Top_Ramen 06-26-2014 09:27 PM

I have every intention of doing your "de-amber" mod, I'm just still gathering up the courage to take a dremel to the lenses. lol

Coffinhunter 06-27-2014 08:35 AM

Sancha got tint last weekend, and a thorough cleaning just now. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/28/8ygyragu.jpg

Installed Polaris' Auto Top DIY
http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/51822-autotop-diy.html

Great DIY project, low cost (< $25) and now I have an auto opening and closing top (hood for those across the pond :))

Davev 07-07-2014 02:04 PM

Switched out the amber side markers. Ordered the stealth bulbs for them today.

Deserion 07-07-2014 06:07 PM

Did a thorough scrubbing of the roof canvas with 303 cleaner, plus a wash to get all of the nasty off. Much better.

Roof protectant will be applied in a few days once the roof is dry (staying in the garage until then).

ammonman 07-07-2014 07:08 PM

Swapped front motor mount center element out as the last mechanical task before leaving on a 3K mile road trip day after tomorrow. Going from Arkansas to central Montana for a wedding, then a couple of days in Yellowstone before moseying home via western Colorado via the Million Dollar highway through Durango and Pagosa Springs.

I finally started work on my headlights. Maybe they'll be ready in time for the autumn driving season :o

Jinx 07-09-2014 01:19 PM

We celebrated it's 11TH birthday today.
Had a great drive on some twisty back roads.

NJBoxster2000 07-09-2014 07:59 PM

I installed Top Speed test pipes and Top Speed type of Exhaust. INCREDABLE!!!!! The sound is awesome!!! I already had the K&N Cold Air intake, so now I have a complete breathing system upgraded. :)

Top_Ramen 07-09-2014 10:36 PM

Pulled my bimmer out of storage today so I decided to give both of the German beauty queens a wash and polish:). The Box even a bit older, just has such a timeless look to it. If and when I decide to add another Porsche to the garage, I honestly don't think I could ever let the 986 go. THUMBS UP for Turtle Wax Black Box too!

Im so stoked. I picked mine up this evening after having the top replaced with an autotrophs direct top with the glass window and defroster. I promptly put 50 glorious highway miles on it in beautiful 75 degree weather.

Added surprise? My horn now randomly works again.

I agree. I hate to think of it now in the height of my driving season, but during the winter months i live vicariously through the posts in this thread.

You even have room left on the bottom for the rocket launcher

I changed the convertible top for a newer one with a glass window.

Also removed some of the dirt accumulated on the engine (thinking of trying to clean it even more tomorrow) and cleaned the air filter.

The new top is awesome, looks so clean compared to the old one:
