Sunny day! Looks awrite.

Seen that guy holding the dash once or twice during hard braking.... what brake pads do you use?! I'll soon be doing mine, could do with the same as yours

Since I just started doing AX, club rules require an Instructor for the first few times. He was a great guy with lots of experience. Drives a 944 spec race car. Yea, he did have to hang on a bit. In one of my earlier runs, my tires were very hot and had gotten a bit slippery, almost spun a few times. I was able to hang on and correct, LOADS of fun. The corner workers were not as happy, lots of cones to reset

It was a wonderful day. Shaved over 5 seconds off my time from the morning practice runs to the afternoon timed runs that counted. Came in 3rd in my class and there was only .45 sec difference between first, second and third. then abort 2.5 sec to fourth. the 3 of us all has 986 S bone stock.

Biggest difference was tires. I have 320 tread-wear and the other guys has much softer/stickier tires, 200 tread-wear. I'm gonna get a 2nd set of wheels and tires for AX and the track soon. Pretty sure with better tires I would have been at least 1 sec faster, probably 2-3

A Pic in hard cornering

Where are you headed?

Deserion 02-14-2015 10:18 PM

Replaced the passenger-side window regulator with a good used example from Woody to fix the chewed cable on the original part.

Polished the exhaust tip and surround to take off years of oxidation. Still needs work.

Hogosha 02-15-2015 12:07 PM

Cut and molded mesh for front bumper grills!

greenheckler 02-15-2015 05:28 PM

Finally installed a 997 shifter from a 2005. Shifts are now more concise. I really like it!

Colorado Springs to visit my brother and his family. Beautiful drive, scenery and weather! It was 70 degrees and sunny in Colorado yesterday ;)

JayG 02-16-2015 02:22 PM

Replaced the front and back brake pads in preparation for a DE event in 2 weeks.

It was my first time replacing brake pads on a Porsche
One word comes to mind.....

EASY!!!!

thom4782 02-19-2015 10:50 AM

Pulled the transmission and IMSB. I know now with 100% certainty that I have a single row engine. IMS Solution goes in tomorrow.

Went out for gas yesterday...........175 miles later I finally got back home!:)
I decided to drive to Ojai and then out on the 33! A great road - everything from tight curves to long sweeping uphill curves and wonderful views. Front of car still covered in a lot of dead bugs.

Pulled front bumper and cleaned all debri. I could not believe the crap that gets in there. Our vents are like a big vac cleaner, pulled cig butts and tumble weeds and plain dust dirt. Even between the radiator and condensor there was crap and alot of it. To further protect filtration I fabbed these up from rain gutter plastic. they come 6in wide by about 6ft. IT took me about 45 min to do. Less than $5 a roll of this stuff so very cost effective. Cut out cardboard shape then trace over to mesh. I fastened to hoirzontal grids with bobby pins! Step back ten feet and it passes my visual. be sure to blow out the radiators with compressed air too.

Beautiful! Well done!! this is next on my project list too!

Removed Coolant Tank

Just finished removing the coolant expansion tank and as expected it was cracked. Going to order one online any suggestions on who has the best price. Keep in mind I am in Canada.

brewerbry 02-28-2015 01:09 PM

I found one here for $101 USD - not sure what the deal would be for Canada but worth checking out...

Finally got to drive it. It's been weeks since I got it back after the new clutch, flywheel and IMSB job. The weather here has been miserable and too cold.

Changed the oil, changed to LN Magnetic Oil Pan Plug, changed over to the LN Oil Filter Spin On Filter Adaptor, changed engine air filter, and changed cabin pollen filter. Kinda proud of myself as I have never done those on a Porsche before. Only cost me $565.86. Next time though the ramps, tools, and parts are already purchased. I will only need just be filters, crush washer and oil next time.

My first DE at a racetrack
WOO HOOO Tons of fun

Here's a video of one of my sessions
This was at Spring Mountain Motorsports Raceway in Pahrump, NV
It was nice and challenging with some very fast corners, a couple of long straightaways and a tight hairpin. Nothing like going from 90+ in 4th to 25 in 2nd at the hairpin.

can't wait until the next track event for me in May

Tarek307 03-02-2015 08:03 PM

Today i looked for a new Engine, because apparently even after doing the IMS and all preventitive maintenance that wasn't enough to prevent the engine from failing at 80K camshaft failure to be precise!

Xpit77 03-08-2015 06:40 AM

This week brakes and a passenger window reg.I bought Power Stop drilled and slots with ceramic pads.

Franco 03-08-2015 01:40 PM

Took her out of the garage for some fresh air.:)

DavidsBoxster 03-08-2015 03:15 PM

I installed Infinity door and dash speakers. What a difference it made. The only question I have, would it sound even better with an aftermarket 4 channel amp since the doors really don't put out much of anything?

I followed the video on making the old dash speakers in to brackets and it was so much easier than I thought it would be. The Infinity 4" have a huge magnet so i lost the plug-in though so I had to change the wires in the dash.

Jamesp 03-08-2015 03:44 PM

Washed it in a light cold rain, it starts out wet and no worry about the finish drying before a rinse! :)

2K-986-S 03-08-2015 05:55 PM

Today:

- Pulled the clutch and flywheel.
- Put together a list of items to order:
-LN Dual row bearing
-LN IMS Faultless Tools
-LN IMS Pro Kit

-Porsche
-RMS installation tool
-RMS
-New flywheel
-New pressure plate
-New clutch
-New clutch release bearing

Then, sat in the garage looking at the 2000 S. Had a couple of beers and just thought about how great it is going to be to get her back on the road.

antny 03-08-2015 06:20 PM

I guess I can make a little list of things I have done.

New hood struts
Front rotors
Painted calipers
HID install
LED running lights
Push button start
Oil change
Headers
Crios Mod
Headunit install and relocation
HVAC relocation
Factory cupholders
Dash speaker replacement
Ignition switch
Top control hack
Radiator fan replacement
Interior LED bulb swap
New top with glass window

I think that is it for now. All of this since the end of November.

Deserion 03-08-2015 07:31 PM

Yesterday I took a trip on a ferry.

Wow, M4SGK1986, that is a shiny Boxster. Looks great!

We have a week to 10 days of 50s and 60s forecasted in the Minneapolis area, so I put the insurance back on, pulled off the cover, and went for a nice top-down ride today with my Daughter. Definitely the earliest Spring drive in the 7 years I have owned it. I'll need to get the orbital out soon to get it looking as good as yours!

DavidsBoxster 03-09-2015 06:15 PM

Added a double din today. Still debating on getting the Eurospeed install kit.
