Sorry to hear about the tire problems. For winter driving fun there is nothing better than a rear wheel drive car that can hang the tail out at will!
|
Since it is parked for the winter I am spending few minutes each night reading the manual (yes, RTFM!). Today I had a few things to do outside, went into the garage and popped the door open, sat down and reviewed what I had read. And admired the view. got out and admired the view. Only 3-4 more months of admiring it before getting to the fun stuff.
|
I added sound deadening material to both doors. Fired up the Bose premium system. Still sounds awful. New head unit and amp next.
|
I *was* going to change tranny fluid, brake and clutch fluid and some spark plug tube O-rings....but I am a wuss and it's to damn cold!!!!
|
Today was my last day of work at the office, so I wanted to present myself as professionally and as well as I could.
So of course I drove the Boxster to work. Met with my successors, tied up some loose ends, had a great lunch with my charges, then drifted off quietly into the sunset of retirement. And now, Scarlett is my DD. :D TO |

Washed it, tookmitmout for a 40 mile trip on the why to stretch her out a bit.
|
Today I stuck my head in my footwell and my feet in the air and replaced my brake pedal switch so that my brake lights would work again. It was a head-spinning ordeal.

Drove it to work, runs well in sub zero temps.

Not exactly today...last weekend actually. Replaced stock radio with inexpensive JVC Bluetooth unit that was onsale at BB for $79. I could not get the alternator and ignition noise to shut up after install so I removed the stock amp as well.
Sound great running the dash speakers (Polk 4") and the stock door speakers (soon to be replaced). |

We put about 300 miles on the Boxster yesterday. I finished installing the new head unit (Pioneer DEH-80PRS) in the morning.
So, I thought we’d see how it sounded on the road. We drove up highway 20 around Clear Lake with the top down. It was a beautiful day between 75-78 degrees. From Clear Lake over the hills with lots of 20-30mph curves to Calistoga and then Santa Rosa. Had a great dinner at “The Villa” and back home by 10pm. Great day! Sorry, picture taken with my phone http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1389899892.jpg The Villa...over looking Santa Rosa http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1389899920.jpg |
3 days ago I put in a new Alpine Bluetooth receiver in. Today I went and bought the wire and connectors to hook up electricity to my rear glass defroster.
I didn't know the defrost button heated the mirrors, just thought the button was useless. Learn something every day! |
Today I made the defrost wiring harness and installed it. As soon as it gets frosty I will test it out.
|
Drove her to the store...the L-O-N-G way! :)
|
What did you do with/to your Boxster today?
Finished up a long and tedious process to make my driving experience look and sound like never before.

Thanks! I'm just about to go for a drive and video tape the engine from the passenger seat, the sound is intoxicating and if you're the passenger, you can see the engine flex when the driver floors it. |
Changed the oil in the Jägermobile today... Over 257,000 miles on it.

Cat Delete
I installed my TopSpeed Cat Delete / Test pipes today. Pretty straight forward project, but always a challenge when mating aftermarket to other (Borla) aftermarket products. With a bit of persuasion, it all went together reasonably well.
I had read that the cat deletes would reduce the drone the Borla's are pretty infamous for. I was shocked! It REALLY helped a lot. Not 100% gone, but WAY better. Lots of good, deep, throaty sound with burble on decel. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1390784329.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/cat11390784342.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01/cat21390784353.jpg |
Started my box for the first time after owning it for 3 years and completely rebuilding the engine after an IMS failure. Sure hope it holds together.

Since its a Tropical 41 today, I took the cover off, pushed it out of the garage into the sun. I even started it for a few minutes. First time in a couple weeks. Hope to take a spin later today. Hope I don't get to much salt on it.
The hose was to rinse off the salt of my bad weather driver. Poor thing. Black car that was white by way of salt http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1391193831.jpg |
Its been a good week for projects:
Installed my homemade, valved sport exhaust with dash switch control (full write-up next week) Leather armrest cover Senoff windscreen inserts Lots of top-down driving under bright sunny skies!! |
Added Aluminum Pedals.....pedals are fine, but hardware was junk....replaced with SS

I changed the oil. It looked so good, I used it to change the oil in my beater! How's that for being thrifty. Motul 8100 Excess- a group 5 oil. I'm paying $11/liter for the stuff.
I also replaced the fuel filter in the Boxster. What a PITA! It had to be done. Baby's off the road for a few months now- resting up for summer!;) |
