It's a beautiful day and everyone is out driving...except for me. :D

It's a madhouse out there, so I thought a lazy Sunday spent detailing the 986's interior and cleaning the garage sounded much nicer ;)
That darn wind won't cooperate, though. Why does the wind always blow into the garage?

The French Dude 03-30-2014 04:12 PM

I can't even detail mine Particlewave... Here it's still snowing and the my garage's door is blocked with ice or something... I have to wait the real Spring... I didn't even saw my Box since 4 months !!!

So be happy to be able to detail it!

cardiffgiant 03-30-2014 04:20 PM

Went to pick it up on Saturday morning. The drive home was awesome!! Put the cover on it in my driveway, and proceeded to watch a few inches of snow and ice fall on it overnight :( WTF, this winter won't end!!!!

doragman 03-30-2014 05:46 PM

Washed it

TripleTrophy 03-30-2014 05:57 PM

Today was the first wash of the season, to get all the dirt off from my last drive in December. It's been too cold to wash it since! Then off for the first drive of the season. I couldn't stop grinning!

BruceH 04-01-2014 11:24 AM

Went to get some new lug bolts to replace my security ones. I also needed a plastic clip. Couldn't resist this photo opportunity:D

Well, this was actually on Sunday and it may not look like it in this picture, but it was 60deg so I took the Boxster out of winter storage for a couple hour drive.
I even had the top down for a while. :)

Of course this is Minnesota, so the forecast is for 5-10" of snow the end of this week.

Hey, thanks! It's OEM Porsche. It is the AeroKit II front bumper with a 996 GT3 lip spoiler. I already had found the AeroKit II side skirts, then I found the bumper with the lip spoiler online from a guy removing all the mods before selling his Boxster. I felt pretty lucky to find it because I have not seen many for sale used.
Here is a better pic of the front bumper from a couple years ago.

Just won (stole) a 3 spoke steering wheel and airbag on eBay for $319.44!!!

I can't wait to get it dyed black and installed! :D
It's got some light scratches on the airbag, but I can take care of that easy.

Totally agree, waited 18months and eventually got OEM speed humps for £200 sterling

I added a short shifter to my 986 :)

cardiffgiant 04-13-2014 05:17 PM

Drove it to the gym and back, then installed my clear side markers. Going in for a water pump this week

golonaus 04-13-2014 07:44 PM

painted my calipers bright green and replaced rotors and pads with new shiny stuff ;-)

Deserion 04-14-2014 04:56 AM

Back on Friday I took the car out for the first time in over a month.

Also that same day, it turned over 100,000 miles. Officially old now? :o

Muzzle of Bees 04-14-2014 06:12 AM

While I was replacing a bulb in the rear I decided to remove both lenses in the rear and clean all the crap out of the body and around the lenses and inspect the seals. I feel better that the area is clean now. There was some debris, but mostly dust and caked dirt back there.

John Bergen 04-14-2014 03:32 PM

Drove my silver 2000S to top of Mt. Diablo with my brother. Blue sky and 70's! But a slowpoke idiot in a Prius right in front if us and no room to pass! Why is it that most Prius (and Volvo) drivers are slowpoke idiots?

rocartfe2 04-14-2014 05:08 PM

Wax it up and drive it down to the shore. No bettter way to spend some time.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1397524043.jpg

Squozen 04-14-2014 05:13 PM

Eastern shore?

kk2002s 04-16-2014 07:32 AM

Drained Oil, dropped the pan for a peek-a-boo
Third change for me 1st sump cover drop
Man I was ready for timing chain guild plastic, metal what ever.
My surprise - nothing - ultra clean at 67k miles.
Tonight I'll cut the filter for that inspection and put the cover back on with a new magnetic plug

I do see the need for new Plug tubes in my future.

I didn't remove some of the under car shield that barely overlaps the sump. I will need to do that to install

HolmaN 04-16-2014 11:09 AM

That's clean markskyline!

And as of today, I removed my door panels and fixed a water leak on both sides that's been pissing me off for a while now.

JayG 04-16-2014 02:50 PM

Washed her
Went for a 20 min top down drive on a nice twisty road

cardiffgiant 04-16-2014 05:53 PM

Sooooo, what's the plan there?

particlewave 04-21-2014 04:06 PM

All of this just so that I could get out the 3 horizontal trim strips for painting.

I'm not right in the head, Bruce...

Actually, this only took me about an hour. It looks much worse, though.
I also still need to finish dyeing my 3 spoke steering wheel, maybe add a small white stripe to the top of said steering wheel, and paint gauge cluster rings glacier white to match.
And...I am back to amber halogens until I get time to install projectors back into my headlights (sold those seen in my avatar :( ).

I did finish painting my rear bumper cover, though! :D

BruceH 04-21-2014 04:28 PM

Yikes! I had thought about those trim strips at one time but I seem to remember reading about the difficulty of removing them. A picture is worth a thousand words:D I have no doubt it will look incredible when you are finished:cheers:

heliguy 04-21-2014 09:54 PM

Paid it off!!!!!

I love it when the clear coat turns out perfect on the first try :D

Three coats of clear should be plenty for trim, I think. I can't wait to see it in the daylight.
