The wife and I drove the Jägermobile to Morro Bay and Ragged Point today. We saw more Porsches driving Highway 1 today than any other day. I would estimate approximately 30 Porsches on the road, including a small cluster of five (probably one of the local clubs), cruzzin highway 1.

We discovered there was a Kite Festival in Morro Bay today, hundreds of kites flying the skies with many spectators.

That's the easy part! Keeping them all running is almost as much fun as driving them. All of them except the 924SE had over 5000 miles in the last year.

Deserion 04-27-2013 07:46 PM

Drove, drove, drove. I had to get in my driving fix after going without for three weeks.

V-Rod 04-27-2013 10:34 PM

Got back from putting about 900 miles on my 99 base over the past three days. Great Weather...Just Awesome!

Philo beddo 04-28-2013 05:35 AM

Replaced battery tray in my 99 base and fretted over rust around battery area. Seems previous owner never checked drain holes. Not sure what to do,but I keep her garaged and I don't drive her in rain

nieuwhzn 04-28-2013 09:19 PM

Replaced the front motor mount, took about 5 hours but no more 3000rpm vibes anymore.

Global Warming:matchup:

Topless 05-02-2013 09:44 PM

Today I changed tires, inspected the brakes and undercarriage, new front rotors and pads (caliper boots looking ratty), charged my gps datalogger, loaded spares and safety gear, all ready for Spring Mountain NV with Patrick Long.

Tires and brakes went quick with no snags. 2 hrs total time.

drbodzin 05-06-2013 08:13 PM

Yesterday I showed my Boxster at PCA Zone 8 Event in San Diego.

Got out for the first time this year.
Yeah this year.
Huge grin the entire time, though. Felt great to get Udo out of hibernation.
Anyone in the Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge & Guelph area up for a cruise? :D

Heiko 05-07-2013 04:57 PM

Took the Box out for a ride after work to visit the Porsche Graveyard about a mile from my house... they chop up old 911's and 3D scan the body panels and reproduce them brand new (kind of a cool place right here in Guelph :))

Get it up to 6000 RPM and report back.

Vista glass 05-08-2013 01:37 AM

Drove to the coast

Floridas 500th anniversary brought a Spanish Galleon to Cape Canaveral. Perfect reason to drop the top and go for a cruise.Clear skies, 70-80 degrees and a day off duty. Unfortunately it is love bug season in Florida. The windshield and mirrors were likewise stuccoed with the remains of the "blind mosquitos". It looks much worse in person and there is an odor distinct to mashed and fried high speed splatter. I left the top down and did not find a single bug on the interior or the spoiler. Even though I have 303 on the canvas I thought it better not to embed this gooey stuff into the leading edge of the convertible.

We enjoyed the ships tour. It is a spectacular historical recreation of the vessels Ponce De Leon would have used 500 years ago. Sorry I have no good photos of this Bristol condition ocean crosser. The ship is scheduled to tour the East coast in the coming months. It was time well spent.

The remains of the amorous insects came off with a lot of water and a little effort. I installed the screens after cleaning the compost heap out of my rads a while back. Happy to report the screens have remained sturdy for several months, through triple digit speeds and the minimal temperature range we experience in Central Florida.

Was going to post a very similar image!!!! I hate those devil bugs. If they don't get washed off QUICKLY they ruin the paint. Of course it made me think of the old ad..."Kill Bugs Fast" :D

Meat Head 05-08-2013 03:26 AM

I drove her to work this morning...........looking forward to a long (stress relieving) drive home :D

recycledsixtie 05-08-2013 04:55 AM

Now the warmer weather is here I am starting to do some basic things from the 101 book. Just changed the engine air filter and was amazed at how dirty it was. Have had my 2001 Boxster base two years and have done 10k miles on it. Have no idea when it was replaced before but it sure needed it....filter was black and could barely see through it.

southernstar 05-08-2013 10:24 AM

Dropped mine off for servicing including replacing the dreaded ignition switch. I'm afraid my back (2 herniated discs in the lumbar region) isn't up to the torturous gymnastics required for that DIY replacement. We'll see what it costs me, but I believe it makes just as much sense to pay a technician for physical discomfort (and personal pain savings) as it does for their skill!

Brad

woodsman 05-08-2013 11:19 AM

pulled both front struts out- was a lot easier than I expected as only two joints had to be popped out (tie rod ends). Everything seems healthy- waiting for new wheel bearings (4) to arrive as well as clutch bolts and ROW M030 kit

cardiffgiant 05-08-2013 12:02 PM

A couple of weeks ago I had a bad week with the boxster :( Got a speeding ticket on one day (45 in a freakin 30), then backed it into the tire of my explorer on another day when I was switching cars in the driveway.

It turned out that the rear bumper was damaged previously and poorly repaired. A coating of fiberglass cracked like an eggshell and left me with a huge spot of plastic bumper cover exposed.

I got it sanded and resprayed by a local shop and just got it back Monday. They did a fantastic job! This Friday I'm taking it into Eksten in Rochester for the IMS, RMS, AOS, oil change, and a coolant flush.

Hurdi 05-08-2013 01:17 PM

replaced engine oil and filter today :))
Castrol 0W-40
2000 2.7 Tiptronic .
39000 km

Loving it :))))))))

southernstar 05-09-2013 09:57 AM

I was billed 1.5 hours to replace my ignition switch, including removing and re-installing the driver's seat, the vent hose, the switch and re-setting the code on the stereo. Also got a hand car wash thrown in. Worth every penny in terms of aggravation and wear and tear on my back!

Picked up new OEM rr rotors, 4 OEM wheel bearings, some clutch bolts and dropped off the front two bearings and they're respective carriers at a 'European' shop. I hate doing this mechanical stuff myself but then when I hand something to a pro I hate giving them money! (and miss that good feeling I get from doing something myself) Now I wish I had bought that used OEM bearing replacement kit I saw on craigslist about 1 month ago!!! I can't win. AND, we're on about the 8 th sunny day in a row and I have't driven my Baby since OCT or Nov!!!! but i'm handling it all very well- did I mention today's FRIDAY and I'm the only one with a convertible/or PORSCHE, that' s NOT driving it!
But when it's done it'll be done right and to the best of my ability, as always...

Overdrive 05-10-2013 12:15 PM

Drove to work, took it for a lunch run...smiled at it.

Maybe I'll gather the motivation to clean it a bit this weekend...:o

Nice day, so I put the top down and went for a drive.
Holy bananas! :D
What a difference in sound above 4000rpm! Definitely more of a low growl. ;)
Good motivation to keep those rpm's up, too.

Visitors be advised. Quick is correct. If you cannot completely clean at least hose to dilute and remove the acidic goo,or paint damage will occur. I parked in the shade and as soon as it cooled off I was on it. I keep the wax fresh this time of year. I put two coats of Maquires carnuba on after cleaning and drying. These bugs will not impede my enjoyment. At least we do not need special tires for this "season".

Coffinhunter 05-11-2013 06:46 AM

Got the oil changed for $79.00 plus tax!!! Couldn't beat that deal. Of course also found out that I need to replace torn cv boots. :(

Totally happy with this shop. Asked to see the filter, and the guy brought it to me already opened. He said "I know exactly what you are looking for. There is no metal in it, so far no indications that there is a IMS concern." No oil leaks at all.

Meat Head 05-11-2013 06:56 AM

It's been raining for 3 days!!! I put the cover on her so she would stay warm and cozy in the garage. I have to keep her covered if it's raining outside, the though of being rained on scares her :D.

Relax. Rain is on the way for you tomorrow .:ah:

Washed her, gave her a clay bar treatment, then a coat of carnauba wax. Red-dyed the left bolster of the driver's seat. Everything came out great! :)

Drive time later this afternoon. 76F and sunny. Great top down weather.

woodsman 05-11-2013 12:11 PM

overcast! perfect day for work on the Boxster. get some blue loc-tite and in goes the clutch, flywheel and maybe, the trans!

cfos 05-11-2013 02:02 PM

Actually got to drive it! Often difficult what with work, kids, etc. hope to take it out again if everyone, Wife included, nap...

jeffm 05-11-2013 04:13 PM

Added the smoked 3rd brake light. Perfect combination with the Depo lights.

dmairspotter 05-11-2013 05:13 PM

Drove it to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, then raced in a 24 Hours of Lemons. Not in the Box.

drbodzin 05-11-2013 06:58 PM

Today, I dropped the transmission out.

Installed hard top (which I mentioned in another thread). Love it !

Ckrikos 05-12-2013 04:41 PM

I picked up a gt3 mk1 bumper. Now I gotta get it painted and installed. My garage is full of DIY upgrades for my boxster. I have the following:

997 shifter
996 plenum and TB, waiting for ipd silicone intake tube to come in
Gt3 bumper
Recently purchased boxster s big red brake set
Paint lugs

litespeedp 05-12-2013 05:42 PM

Used up one and a half bottle of wheel cleaner and a small brush chucked up in a 3/8th inch drill to clean the million crevices in my Fikse brand aluminum rims.

Several hours and they are now presentable.

Sometimes I wish for the stock rims on my 2000 S !
