Installed the new eBay-special center caps. Looks good!

alm001 04-19-2016 04:19 AM

Drove it to bring my brother to Boston to pick up a 981 Cayman.

Started developing a light throttle misfire/stumble. Going to read codes on the way home from work today.

Spoiler Lettering

This morning I installed some Porsche lettering on my rear spoiler. For some odd reason I couldn't get anything to stick on the surface. Some citrus cleaner did the trick. I had some Silver sign vinyl laying around and it actually matches my Boxster S lettering on the truck lid. Spoiler curvature took a little while to get right. Might change it out to 'Boxster S' in the future. Used to do this vinyl graphics stuff in a business we had and wisely kept some of the equipment.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1461082152.jpg

That looks great! I'm considering something similar, but the text "AUF WIEDERSEHEN" instead. Do you by any chance have the size of the spoiler?

Why not just push the little button and open yours and measure it??????

Rear Spoiler measurement template

Fridsten:

Here's an image of the measurements I used to create the lettering. I DID NOT remove my spoiler to install the lettering. Be sure to allow about a .500" or more from the edge as depicted in the image. Measurements are not perfect but adequate.

Great Job on the spoiler sticker!
FYI, for anybody else interested you can buy pre-cut spoiler stickers. They used to be a lot more prevalent, but it looks you can still get them on eBay or here: Porsche 986 Boxster Rear Spoiler Vinyl Decal – Carrera Decals

That would be an awesome idea, if it wasn't for the fact that the car in question is in a different location from where I am at the moment. :)

2002 s

I have a question for Cbadbox and Chboro, my 2002 S like both your cars has no bagging (BOXSTER S) on rear bumper or trunk lid is that how it came from factory?

Porsche9 04-21-2016 09:26 AM

Installed a new cowl. The old one had a busted bracket that could not be fixed so on the passenger side it was sticking up an inch.

Zunsport Grille Screens

Decided to order a set of black Zunsport Grille Screens for my 02 S.

Ordered them on Monday night and they were at my door today at 10:00am. That's crazy fast shipping from the UK!

Took about 45 minutes to install all 5 of them (L front, R front, C front and 2 side vents). I think it took longer to mask off the painted areas than it did to actually install the units.

They were a very nice company to work with. The price is a little high, but the quality and customer service is first class.

Frontpage: I love your rims. What are they? Speedline? Keskin? Something else?

Not today, but yesterday I ordered a vinyl decal with the text "AUF WIEDERSEHEN" for my spoiler. :)
I've also received a package with new trim for where my handset used to be and a OBD2 bluetooth reader.

I have chrome ones on my Black 01S and love them. I got mine crazy cheap because someone had ordered the wrong ones for his car and just found them on eBay , their workmanship is incredible and a perfect fit.

They are Veloce 3.6 wheels. Bought them direct from Veloce in the UK. They are one piece Speedline replicas. I have genuine 3 piece Speedline wheels on my 930 and love them. So I figured a one piece version would be a nice road wheel for my 986. So far...so good. They are also a first class company to work with.

Mine is a base 99, the previous owner removed the rear Boxster emblem. I like it that way, it keep everyone guessing! The 3.4 with a cayman S exhaust is the real surprise.

New Goodyear Eagle F1 Tires all around installed today. So far so good.Very quiet and smooth. Dry grip is excellent. Will see how the wet is when it rains.

Muzzle of Bees 04-23-2016 07:05 AM

Replaced passenger side door lock, then proceeded to replace the drivers side window regulator.

Replaced dash speakers with some alpines. Nice improvement. My OEM speakers were actually in good shape no rips etc. But I destroyed them to use the OEM baskets to mount the new speakers. Next up installing the rear speaker kit from suncoast.

PCinDC 04-25-2016 06:05 AM

Installed:

- 997 seats, heaters and power working after some re-wiring
- Carbon fiber parking brake (bought at Hershey for a STEAL)
- Red center console, grey trim bits
- Red horsehoe dash trim
- Red gauge surround

Couple other bits coming next weekend

Thanks! Yes, it definitely needs to be adjusted. I'll worry about that next weekend. Hopefully my other bits come in time.

PCinDC things looks good, how difficult was it to power the heated seats. I have a 99 and would like to have heat. But did not think it was possible to retro-fit a 99?

CoBeerToad 04-26-2016 06:20 AM

Installed a tow hook license plate mount thingy. Hate having a front plate, but now that I'm not right next door to Indiana anymore, I know I'd be asking for trouble.

It wasn't too much a pain. Had to reroute my frunk cable from the tow hook hole, but I found a good place for it underneath.

I sourced the center console switches from ebay and ran a new circuit from the battery. Wasn't too hard, just be careful, fuse the circuit and use adequate gauge wire. If you've wired an amplifier this isn't that much harder. Just need to account for the relays which you typically wouldn't on something like an amplifier install.

fridsten 04-26-2016 08:38 AM

I'm currently trying to stabilize a couple of video files from a track day I participated in a couple of days ago. Then I'll move on to putting the overlay with some gauges in place. After that I'll upload them to Youtube. :)

What have I done? Not a dad-gum, dang-blasted, bling-blang thing!

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1461729645.jpg

Why? Because WI weather close to Lake Michigan has been putridly cold or rainy this spring with only a few tease days of warm, sunny weather. And this is what we are facing:

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1461729782.jpg

Followed by this spectacularly convertible friendly weather

With a BMW 330 Coupe Daily Driver, what's the point of bringing baby out for this crap?

Arctic Silver... we had a pcar group get together, there were 10 Arctic silver Boxes (out of 14 total Boxes) there.
Most common color, I think.
