Terracleened
I had my 2002 S Terracleened today and what a difference it's got it's mojo back, and I fixed the no sound oil of my Pcm.

An early morning group drive thru Malibu / Santa Monica mountains...It was a bit foggy but still fun.
The last drive on these rear tires - I have about 0.2mm of tread in center - good in the dry but too risky on damp or dusty roads! I managed to get 13,000 miles on them!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1458510768.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1458510785.jpg |
Wakey! Wakey!, woke up the Boxster today from its Winter sleep over & moved it from the garage into the car shed for recommisioning then a quick blast up the coast, beautiful day today this side of the pond. Back into the garage again for three weeks, i'am off to the US to do a little rail fanning .http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1458516063.jpg

Replaced an 02 sensor, new gas cap, and new rad cap. Ready to go.

I got my new tires mounted on my new (used) wheels. So I decided to put them on the car and take it for a spin. I like :)

Busy weekend.....
New wheels, tires, smoked LED tail lights, smoked LED side marker lights and Rennline pedals. http://frontpageinteractive.com/news.../03/Wheels.jpg http://frontpageinteractive.com/news...ail-Lights.jpg http://frontpageinteractive.com/news...de-Markers.jpg http://frontpageinteractive.com/news...ne-Pedeals.jpg |

Not today, since it's 7 a.m. here, but yesterday evening I got some projects done.
- Desnorkeled - Swapped the illuminated vanity mirrors with broken hinges from the sun visors to new ones without lights - Removed the Navi unit and replaces it with a tray - Replaced the ashtray with a storage bin - Removed the handset. Now I need a piece of trim for where the handset has been. And wow, the intake noise after removing the snorkel is awesome! |

Any reason you removed your NAV unit? Would you up for selling it? |
Quote:
The old PCM 1 navigation is actually quite outdated and I would advise you to look at other options. Edit: And the reasons for removing it are that I don't use it and I prefer to have a storage bin instead. |

Thinking about putting insurance back on...
I still have a long list of things I want to do before "spring" |
Finished mounting my tweeters
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Lh...-=w945-h532-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/52...n=w945-h532-no Plug straight into the factory harness, and sound pretty good. I need to do some tweaking, then I'll decide if I will try something else, or keep them and move on to replacing the door speakers. (Stock bose mids and tweeters are for sale if anyone is interested) |
got her out of the shop for final tweaking since roof swap. all is good with the world.

Tried to figure out how the heck to get the rear wing to go up manually. No still have no idea!

These's a switch on the fusebox cover in the footwell

Ah, assumed you had a 986. Do you have your manual? I think your switch is on the center console

If you don't have the manual, I would try asking someone on another forum like Planet 9 or Rennlist. If you are PCA member, you could also try the Boxster Register. My knowledge is with the prior gen 986. It sounds like maybe the switch needs replacing. Don't feel like an idiot at all! I have asked some pretty dumb questions. We're all in this P car thing together! Good luck.

Windshield
Got the S a new windshield. I am pretty sure that it still had the original one still installed. Got a new silver molding to go with it too.

Swapped the non-dot matrix gauges for one with a dot matrix display. It worked perfectly after reprogramming with my VIN and milage. Glad I did this mod.

Yesterday I said goodbye to the miserable Toyo Proxis T1 Sport tires on my 17 inch wheels and hello to a set of new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N-3's, like I have on my 18 inch wheels. Today I drove the Boxster S over to Cars & Caffe at Prestige BMW in Ramsey, NJ. It was nice to drive at highway speeds without my steering wheel vibrating and annoying me after 8,000 miles on the POS Toyos.
|
Had a nasty rattle, especially prevalent when it was cold. It was almost drowning out the exhaust. Figured every heat shield underneath had broken loose at the same time. Turns out it was just one. Did the lazy man fix and put a clamp around it. Sounds beautiful again.
|
^^^
Nothing wrong with the lazy man fix. I have a stainless worm clamp on each secondary cat heat shield. |

Expensive but worth it!

When I had the chance to snag a set of 2003 17 inch rims, I did. Having prematurely replaced a couple of rear 18 inch PS2's due to road damage, I thought I would try something less expensive. Wish I had seen what people said here about the various brands of tires, the Toyos made my steering wheel and car vibrate annoyingly. I might have bought the Dunlop Direzza's, but having gone through the agony of the Toyos, I decided to go with Michelin again. I drove the Boxster to work yesterday and today, it is like a new car with these new Michelins! |

I have a clamp around mine, damn are those things loud. |
Euro Side Marker lights & emerg hood cable
This morning I treated my Boxster to some new clear Euro side marker lights, a new hood latch cover and I fished that emergency hood cable to the tow hook location so I can find it next time.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1460119981.jpg

Cleaned all the wheels in and out and threw another coat of wax on it. I have way too much time on my hands!
