Untrue.
That's just silly.
Again, it's a compromise, far from an ideal solution. But properly applied, the product creates a condition that is an improvement over the original untreated chips. As I said, it's no miracle, but it's certainly better than nothing.

Not true at all in my experience. I've had very good success and durability with my Dr. Colorchip touch ups.

Next time I may try this method with the OEM touch-up paint.

*To be fair, Ocean Blue is a gorgeous color, but can be a pain to take care of.

I'm not sure Dr. Colorchip is any better than whatever you can buy in a bottle at your auto parts store. I found the color to be off on compared to my '98 Guards Red, but red fades so that might be a problem with any touch up paint.

As far as technique, one needs to clean the spot well to be sure no wax residue is left behind or the paint won't stick well. I've never had a spot repair come back off.

I dab and smear, dab and smear...then, in about 15-20 minutes follow up with a dampened cloth with paint remover on it to remove the paint that surrounds the chip. Work a small area at a time, so you don't miss a spot...maybe 2 foot by 2 foot.

It works, though not perfect it is much better than leaving big bumpy blemishes over the chips by just dabbing on paint like most people do.

I have found it works pretty well. Not perfect, but better than a factory touch up bottle.
At least with the Dr, you don't have bumps of paint

Makes sense that a color like red might be a little different after it has faded. I have used Arctic Silver and black are perfect matches

I bought a bottle of Arena red from paintscratch.com good match but i am struggling with thr deeper chips to make them go away. I clesned with isoprophyl, dabbed with the tinh pait brush sticks that Amazon sells ..then polishedwith rubbing compound. Still.not happy though its better. 5he rash is mostly in one spot on thr hood so is very obvious.i tried the paint remover it just made a mess.
Other than a hood repaint what can I try?

I've never had much luck doing the dap and wipe process. What I end up doing is filling the chip with paint, which creates a bit of a blob. Then I take some 1500 sand paper to smooth it out. Go LIGHTLY and only sand the smallest area possible. Then followed by rubbing compound, swirl removing compound, and polisher compound to bring back the shine.

JayG - thanks for the heads-up and wish I'd seen this last wk as I just bought a bottle. Found a "coupon" for 5% which helped but 15 would have been better. Keep updating as you go and I'll remember to look next time I need a bottle.
