Switched the radio and cd holder. Now I can actually see the radio when the cup holders are in use.

I painted my right rear rim with Rustoleum silver (slightly more gray blue than stock), and then hit it with Rustoleum clear gloss. The color is so close it appears the same unless you know it's different. Even then you have to look critically. It make the wheels appear larger which is attractive. I'll do the other three in the Rustoleum if it holds up.

I have done the Fuel pump relay jump when I was getting stalling after running, then being able to restart after 10-15 minute cool down
When you jump the fuel pump relay , the pump should start running

Last week, replaced motor mount.
Today, replaced serpentine belt and cabin filter.
This weekend, replace spark plugs, fuel filter and put it up for sale... Wanting a lotus so bad.

Would you be able to post some pics of these lights at night? How was the install?

I bought the HID's already completely installed into the lights so install was simply removing the old headlights and sliding in the new ones and locking them in. Whole thing took about 30 minutes because I was running from the computer (youtube) to the car.

I will take a night picture. I drove with them last night and they work fantastic! Really nice wide beam of light. I need to adjust the depth and make sure they are in sync as far as depth of field.

Cheers for the suggestion, I do need help with the car that's for sure. I've made three attempts at a new post under two separate accounts but they don't seem to be getting past the moderator approval step so I gave up.

It's not because I included a link to a YouTube video of me trying to start the car is it?

(Sorry, off topic I know)

Four new tyres. MICHELIN Pilot Sport PS2.

crooster 10-13-2015 04:55 PM

PSM off and ABS lamps came on yesterday. After reading the forums I checked if my brake lights were working, and they were not. So today I replaced the brake switch. Not a fun job due to cramped access and I'm only 5'7"!

GREAT choice! I run them on my TE50 and they're my benchmark tyre. (I'm also in Melb)

Got cel, pulled 0410 and 1411, ugh, more work to do...

Had blue lights behind me for the first time ever today.

I'm sick of the discontent in America towards the law.

The officer treated me with respect before I could even return him the favor.

Was lucky enough to get a warning and warning was effective I won't be speeding there ever again.

I can't respect our men in blue enough!

First parts order from the dealer, now cheaper than ordering from Pelican, ecs, etc., thanks to the piss poor exchange rate and shipping costs.
Getting ready for the winter work. Off the road 1st of Nov. Calling for mixed precipitation tomorrow :barf:

oc-boxster 10-16-2015 02:39 PM

Cleaned MAF sensor and throttle body. Replaced drive belt and air oil separator. 4 more things off the list.

Emerald Necklace drive

We drove the entire Emerald Necklace Metropark route around Cleveland. It is 154 miles and 8 hours including the Big Creek Parkway. The day started cold (42 deg) and sunny but snow hit as we made our way thru the east side portion of the route. It was a fun drive listening to the engine sing all day.

New front pads and rotor "rings" for my 2-piece PFC rotors. You can still see the yellow zinc-nickel plating.

Cleaned MAF & throttle body, DT40 oil change and final wash and wax of the season. Hiding under a car cover until May next year.
I've got all winter to get parts and perform the 100,000km service.

Yesterday I washed my 2003 S. Then I changed the wheels from the 17 inch with Toyo Proxes T1 Sports to the 18 inch with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N3s. Since I put the 17 inch wheels and tires on I've been unable to drive the car over 70 without the steering wheel vibrating just enough to be annoying. These Toyo tires seem extremely sensitive to road surface, temperature tire air pressure and how much gas is in the tank! Sometimes the vibration is almost gone and sometimes it is a lot worse. My car isn't a daily driver, but I do try to drive it at least once a week and my commute is 60 miles each way. I'll drive it tomorrow and see how it feels with the 18 inch wheels and tires. If the it feels better, the Toyos will be gone in the Spring! And tomorrow I have a paintless dent guy coming to the office to take a couple of dents out of my rear trunk lid. He's done my daily driver and my wife's car already, so I'm ready to turn him loose on the Boxster now.

Sanded and polished the headlights. They look so much better. Started with 800 grit, there was a lot of junk on them. Then onto 2500 grit and finished off with 3000 grit. All wet sanded. Polished the plastic with two products for plastic and paint.

Finally getting all the body work that needed to be done finished up!

Got her first service since taking ownership earlier in the year. 100,000km. Spark plugs, fuel injection system clean, air filter, etc. They said it was quite dirty and we should notice better fuel economy and performance.

They seem to grip more than the almost bald ones that were on it! :)

Installed new (to me) clear taillights. I'm amazed at how much they update the car. I picked them up from one of the wonderful members off this forum.

Road Trip - Raleigh NC onto the Blue Ridge Parkway near Boone NC. Headed down to Asheville NC. Hiked a few short trails along the way and made a side trip driving down 226a and back up 226.

Yesterday, she went in to the Box doctor and had her very first check-up! 11 years old, and finally past 15k miles. She has a clean bill of health.

Stormbringer 10-20-2015 09:07 AM

A few items.......

The muffler was not secured from previous owner. New cat brackets and lower bracket installed. Wheels pulled and inside drums cleaned (filthy and likely the first time ever done) what an improvement! The brake coolers (rubber scoops) were also missing and new ones installed. New battery also as old one was getting weak and had a bad cell.

Thanks for your help with all of the above Tim!

The wife and I went to Cheesecake for dinner. I looked around for Mr.Johnathan. Sadly he was nowhere to be found

paulofto 10-23-2015 07:58 AM

Changed the oil and filter, cut open said filter for a particle check (all clean), checked and topped up all fluids, checked brakes and then went for a drive. All in preparation for putting her to bed this coming weekend for hibernation. The last few days have been quite nice but winter is coming, as it always does.

Luv2Box 10-23-2015 08:25 AM

Installed the upgraded 12V accessory lighter and replaced door panel lights with LEDs. Now my GPS plug won't fall out at inopportune times. Next is the dome light with an LED.

kk2002s 10-24-2015 08:08 AM

just got back from another 1900 mile drive
NJ to FLA and back, 6 days (4 driving)
A little concerned about hwy 95 being closed due to flooding in SC.
I camped in SC to break up the drive
Came back yesterday, 600+ miles. Took me 10 hours. Hit that crappy Washington DC traffic.
Car ran without issues. Had to top off about a cup of coolant but that's it.

Need to do an oil change and let her rest for awhile

Jamesp 10-24-2015 12:09 PM

Washed it in the rain. Folks may think I'm nuts but anything stuck to the finish comes off much more easily after soaking in the rain and it is mainly self rinsing. The only down side is water spots after it dries as I don't have a garage to pull into to dry it (too poor). I've also waxed it while it is wet and that also works pretty darned well. It cost me a wet ball cap, t-shirt and shorts.

Nmbrsix 10-24-2015 04:58 PM

Pulled it out of the garage, drove it around the neighborhood a bit, did a bunch of yardwork (tiny garage = gotta pull the car out to get to things), pulled it back in the garage. Exciting day for the 986, I tell ya. :D

I also ordered a new Gummi-Pfledge stick, a CTEK maintainer with cigarette lighter adapter, some desiccant packs, wheel chocks, and Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer in preparation for it's upcoming long sleep...

dghii 10-24-2015 05:22 PM

Puit a for sale sign on it.

2000 Box S in NW Florida

My first (real) drive....

75+ miles each way, heavy (at times) traffic, nite driving home.

awesome...First drive, She lives again.

I connected the trickle charger and tucked it in for the winter. Will check up on it once in a while, though.

No issues with tires developing a flat spot after a whole winter?

Made a minor modification to the bose amplifier...

I've bypassed it, yes. I gutted it, and replaced it with a MiniDSP signal processor. This gives me the ability to control crossovers on all speakers and it also has a 31 band EQ per channel.
I have a temporary external amp hooked up, and it's already leagues better than the original.

Pdwight 10-25-2015 12:04 PM

I thought the USB port and SMT tech looked all wrong for 1996 time period. Tell us more
