I used to have an 05 STi. Fast car, and fun, but I always felt like I was driving a 375HP $12,000 car. The overall build quality of both the STi and Evo (STi is MUCH better, by the way) is atrocious compared to even a VW, and while fast, the car's are more appliances for speed, rather than drivers car. Due to very well balanced chassis and state of the art AWD, they are super easy to drive.
In short, I had fun with mine, but I've got no interest in buying one again.

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. I love, "I was driving a 375 HP $12,000 car" and "appliances for speed". I had an '02 WRX which I modified to over 300 HP. Fast car and EVERYONE wanted to race me (and almost all lost). I don't regret having owned it, but I don't really look back. My Boxster and C4S are soooooooooooo much nicer inside, much sexier to look at, and better engineered overall. I could jump into either and drive across the country with a smile on my face the whole way! Like this...

I hope you meant material quaity as opposed to build quality. And just interior material at that. There's nothing wrong with the way they're put together. Mechanically they are tanks. I wish my Porsche could take the everyday abuse that my Impreza does.
