I've seen judges throw tickets for that little speed out. Actually, I saw the judge berate the ticketing officer for wasting his time. Hopefuly you'll have such luck.

Yeah, definitely take it to court, you'll get off no problem, and like someone already said, most likely, the cop will get reprimanded for wasting your time.

It sucks being young in a car like this. I'm 22, and I've owned several BMWs and now a Boxster in my 6 years of driving, and the abuse from law enforcement as well as comments from jealous pricks seem like they will never end!

I have been in more municipal courts for 'speeding' tickets than anyone I know. First:
NEVER PAY YOUR TICKETS WITHOUT FIGHTING.
Second:
Get A Valentine One or Escort X50
Thrid:
Did the cop bust you with the radar gun, laser gun? Did he state that it was verified on the gun or was it just from his visual? I don't think the laws in California allow a driver to be busted for speeding without the gun reading.
Fourth:
Go back to the scene of the crime and see how far from where you were pulled over was there a sign that posted the speed limit. I once got a ticket and I went back and drove about a mile in each direction without seeing a single sign that said 25mph. this was an industrial area with four lanes of traffic. I was dointg about 40 mph. I told the judge that I got pulled over on this street and the neares speed limit signs in this non-residential area were this far away on this street to the north and that street to south.

When you go to the court before your appointment, try and find out who the prosecutor is and ask him if you could speak to him about your ticket. Ask him if it would be possible to enter a plead for not wearing your seat belt or other non-points violations. I have done this before and instead of getting fined for doing 20 mph over the limit they changed the vioation to "obstructing the flow of traffic" (double parking). THe court just wants money.

Whatever happens don't plead guilty to the ticket if it will result in points. If you are young your insurance company in most states will kill you with higher premiums. When I was 19 I had no points and I wanted a CRX Si and the insurance was almost $5K a year! Needless to say I bught a stupid accord hatchback instead and the insurance was under my father's name.

By the sound of it your cop is a weirdo. Every cop knows the only Boxster to buy is the S :P

they got the name wrong when naming the color of your car...

It's was supposed to be "speed TICKET yellow"

Hence, my choice for black. Far less noticeable in a crowd of red and yellow cars.

The lecture the cop gave you was way out of line. Perahps you should file a complaint. The ticket is, well, whatever the legal system has in store for you.

But, his attitude was inappropriate at best.

Many years back, I got stopped by a cop with a major attitude. I told him, 'Hey, just give me the ticket and skip the lecture!"

That did not go down well as you can imagine but I felt great about it.

PS-got the ticket anyway, would have either way.

I had an interesting encounter with two MO Highway Patrolmen this afternoon. I just wanted to share it with you guys to remind us that most cops are not jerks.

I was out driving with a friend this afternoon and I pulled into a parking lot for a popular local park. It was a nice day today and the lot was packed as many people were out jogging and walking. I made my way to the back of the lot when I noticed two highway patrol cars sitting in the way back watching people go by. I immediately thought, "Shoot, my front license plate is in the front trunk! This is gonna cost me." Well having no choice I passed the cops and parked about 3 spaces down from them. With in 2 minutes of stopping the car, both troopers walked over. One came up and asked "Whose car is this?" in kind of that "cop voice." I said "Its mine." He replied with "Oh . . . well when you pulled in I noticed you didn’t have a front plate." I thought I was screwed. He then smiled and said. "You know what, I think if I had a Porsche, I wouldn’t put the front plate on either. Id just pay the ticket every once in a while and leave the plate off." I started laughing. His partner said something about agreeing. They just wanted to check the car out, and asked me a bunch of questions about the car in general. They were both nice guys, and just into cars. When they turned to walk away, the first cop said "yea, I really wouldn’t put that plate on, leave it in the trunk."

Anyway, just a funny story. Sorry to hear about the ticket.

Bad luck with the ticket. Take a minute though to think of us poor Aussies. In the state of Victoria, the tolerance on speeding is 3KM/H. That''s 2mph. A colleague of mine got a ticket from a fixed speed camera going into a tunnel for doing 82km/h in an 80km/h zone.

To top that off, the maximum speed limit is 110km/h which is about 68mp/h.

We do have lots of long straight deserted roads, but it is actually really dangerous to speed along these. Too many kangaroos!

The Northern Territory has no speed limit, but it takes 2 whole days to drive there from Melbourne. The tyranny of distance we call it.
The only way around it - get your speed kicks on the track. Then you can really let rip!

I got a written warning from a Texas State Trooper on the road to San Antonio from Houston for not having a front plate affixed. Told him I had it in the car if he wanted to see it, but he did not care.

I'll risk the 75 ticket... it looks ugly.

Well I ran into a different cop this morning, and he gave me a ticket for not having the front plate.

My problem with this guy was that he pulled me over, then walked up and started saying how beautiful my car was yada yada yada, then gave me the ticket, then started talking about the car again. I honestly was pulled over for about 15 mins, and 10 of it was the cop asking me all about the car. Very strange, I think he pulled me over to check the car out.

That's an unusual story. I'm young too(24), but my car seems to have a different effect on the police here. I have the "arrest me red" boxster S with no front plate and the cops almost always look the other way. I've had the car for a year and a half now and have never gotten a ticket. I have no radar dectector and have a lead foot. One cop( a university cop) has pulled me over twice for no front plate and I told him both times I bought the car in Indiana(which is true) and I have no front plate bracket(not true). I said I was in the proccess of getting one so he let me off with a warning both times. I have a feeling though when I see him in the future he won't be buying it so I'll probabbly get a ticket from him. That's the price you gotta pay to keep the car beautiful. He's the only one that gives me grief though. I speed by cops at 10-20+ that are parked and obviously shooting some radar and they just let me go. Hopefully my luck won't run out *knock on wood*
