On the other hand I can imagine thefront tires screetching on the ragged edge of traction and then 50% of your front contact patches leaves the pavement, and blaaaa understeer while your trying to unwind the wheel for the strait section. If you timed it right you come off looking like a pro, if not it cost you 1 or 2 seconds for a knocked cone.

It doesn't work that way. You don't go from 100% grip to 50%, there's a steady, fairly linear transition of weight/grip from the inside to outside tire. You're inside tire can be "on the ground" , but only have 10# of load on it, essentially doing nothing.
