I have the current version, which is much improved over my stock shifter. But interested in the updated version as well.

If the new L-shaped lever will fit the 997 shifter then I am interested in buying it, too!

Ben I have your short shifter but haven't installed it yet . Would make sense to do it all at the same time . Any idea when production units will be available for sale ? Maybe a group buy to get the ball rolling ?

You can install your short shifter and retrofit the lever later, they are two separate parts so you don’t have to get both
I’d say, get a feel for the shifter before, then install the lever after and enjoy even more !
I’ll get the production started without problem... the only problem is that I’ll have 200 of them ahah !
Thanks guys!
Ben.

Does the console have to be removed to add the improved lever ? I am trying to avoid removing the console multiple times if possible .

I think it does, but I'm not 100% certain. I looks like the short shift lever will also have to come out to get the blue ball ended shaft out of the old white block, unbolt that piece and bolt the new piece in! When I did mine, I bought a spare shifter from Woody and put the short shifter together on that so it was already to go before I took the console out. This time I'll need to take it all apart to get this piece in.

Yep, console is removed, you need to have access to the cables and pry out the plastic shaft that holds it on the side.
I have a few things to finnish, then I'll start the production of the levers !
I'm confident that you are going to love it !
Now it's just a matter of making the last adjustments (an error on 200 pieces can be an expensive error...).
Also, I should be fitting the carbon fiber plenum this Saturday ! I'm pretty excited for that too !
Ben

Newbie and short shifter
Hey guys. Just bought 2002 booster s with 82k miles. Has no history records but runs well. Have to push clutch all the way to floor otherwise gears will grind if not super careful. Going to do 4th gear at 30mph test and bleed hydraulics. Would like short shifter and after quick check as a new member not sure of the best way of getting and putting one in? I’m sure this has been gone over many times so pardon my short cut to your valued advice. Thank

You are in the wrong Thread for gearbox problems?
Suggest some more research into the gearbox issues.
It would help if you indicated 5 speed or 6 speed ?
Inspect the Slave cyl?
If 6 speed - what is the 1-2 change like when cold ?

Sounds like your clutch is not disengaging all the way. As you said, try with a bleeding first !
For the short shifter, I just sent 12 to Uniwerks design, so he has some in stock

Ben can you give us some information on the new lever? Is it less of a short shifter, more mechanical advantage? What Porsche lever distances did you model it from? Would I be able to retro fit my B+M lever or Porsche SSK; put into the B+M metal frame? Will it only fit into your ball bearing shifter frame?
What is the nature of the L-shape? Which way is it bent? I find the 9X6 cars have the lever moving way to close to the console in the rear gate gears. My elbow hits the console....hand is crammed

The new L lever will be out soon ! I received the last quotes to make it !
It will fit any short shifter that previously fit the stock L lever.
It will be an alunimum lever, with replaceable delrin inserts. I'm probably include two in the kit.
Ball bearings, and a steel shaft, though, that's still to be tested !
It won't shorten the side-to-side throw as Porsche got at least that right the first time ^^
It'll be a great improvement over stock ! I'm still running the prototype everyday !
I had to take a Cayman Cup for a ride last week, fitted with a Porsche cup shifter... And frankly, I like my setup better !
I know I tease you guys a lot, and you've already been waiting for a while now, but the end of the tunnel is near
Ben
