Hello, brand new to the site.I recently acquired a 99 Boxster as a refurbish project, mostly cosmetic but I find I am in over my head on a couple of issues such as a non-working top and some electric seat issues. I am slowly acquiring information and parts and looking forward to posting and asking for help and some day giving some answers and trying to contribute. I am not new to German roadsters having had several BMWs. I once had a 70's 911 T but way in the past . This project should be fun.

I did not use any special tools in place of the tensioners. There were several threads discussing this. Brad Roberts was in one of them. It seems they are not necessary. We'll find out on start-up ! It is a miserable torment this M96 rebuild project - no definitive source of information until Jake publishes his damn book!

Hey, since you are ahead of me I have a couple questions.

What did you do to replicate the special tools which are used in place of the chain tensioners?

I've seen reference to pumping up the chain tensioner in hot oil, but I've not read a great explanation. Thoughts?
