Fred, I still can't get over what a huge improvement your projectors made to my car. Thanks again, and although we all knew you wouldn't continue as you have, it's good to hear that they will still be available thru Pelican.
Take care, |
Fred, when the kits are available again, will they still say Porsche on them? I assume no, but thought I'd ask.
They are nice looking, but the Porsche lettering is kinda the main reason I want a set. |
Here's mine
I want to thank Fred and Charles. These are a great product and Charles was great to
Retrofit mine. Thanks to you both. Van http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1410288554.jpg |

WOOHOO !!! I received an email from the manufacturer the prototype headlight seals are done  He included a picture they look good to me but time will tell. I asked several follow up questions like when will they be ready for sale ? What will the price be ? Will there be a group buy price ? And most important when can I have a set :D As soon as I hear I will post here. I've been holding off installing my retrofit headlights until the seals are available, I'm tired of seeing pictures of everyone else's :)

Quick update
August been busy! Added a well deserved holiday to this.... took off in the south with my wife. I (we) get to take annual leave once a year and it has to be at the end of Aug. Those are my only options sadly.... each and every year is the same :/ But still well received! Oh and I had to go back home (Montreal) for an express 5 days visit... of course to catch up with the new local taste of fresh poutine with pogo-sticks lol
Lots to catch up here in Shanghai and loads to read on the forum. Fortunately I've already managed to catch up with the rituals of being a wage slave (i.e. day job) and manufacturing slick headlight kits as a side business! I have now in hands 50 (fifty) kits of each models (Turismo, Vivo & Luminoso). Those are fully manufactured and ready for anodizing and custom laser engraving. I'll be in contact with Pelican to arrange logistics for a few of those shortly but in a meantime, and until we see those advertised, if anyone of you guys is interested in a kit you can always PM me |

Guys, make sure you check the beam height after installing the new projectors. I had to raise them quite a bit.
I followed the 25 ft (7.5 m) method described in the owner's manual, adjusting the numbers to accommodate that my garage was a few feet too small for the full 25 ft. It's a 5mm hex to do the actual adjustment. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1412522063.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1412522076.jpg |

Anyone EAST GTA able to install these. I am a new owner, Would love to purchase a set nd have them installed.
|
Send them to particlewave. Charles lives in the states but will do an awesome job. If I didn't want to do the job myself I would have sent them to him without hesitation.
|
How can i order a set? from Nine8six?
|
Here's Fred's website:
The ultimate bi-xenon headlight retrofit kit for Sport & Super cars I'd PM particlewave on the best way to get them installed. I.e. have Fred send them directly to him, or whatever. |

I'm starting to think those look better with the headlight interior left stock color with the projector skirt/shroud thing in black. No? As-is, just like on your pictures. I think they look splendid |
Thanks buddy!
I agree about the interior. Black looks cool now, but will it in a few years? OEM interior looks amazing and always will! Here are some shots of the Luminoso AEs... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a..._photos/32.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a..._photos/30.jpg |

IMO - I like the stock look too. Just look very clean and modern and classy, all at the same time. |
Yep, stock looks best long term IMO;)

Looking good, Bruce!!!
Now, time for some more car pron! Turismo installed. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/013-2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/014-1.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/015-2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/016-3.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/017-2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/018-2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/019-2.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/021-1.jpg http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...otos/023-2.jpg Sorry about the dirty car. I've been busy... :) |
My kit arrived on just the other day. The lights are installed in the housings. Next step is figuring out the wiring, mounting the Ballasts, checking the aim and then sealing them back up.
|
Quote:
For nice and clean install of the ballast, you'll want a 1" holesaw and some 1" hole plugs from the hardware store. ;) 1" is the perfect size to allow all the connectors to pass through the rear cover in case you need to replace the ballast down the road. |
Re sealing the lights
Im curious , if you use RTV they would be sealed forever.....or can you get them back apart ??
|
No RTV for me. Permatex black silicone adhesive sealant.
It's pretty close to OEM. Actually, I use a combination of silicones, now. I use the Permatex at three key points around the headlight seal for it's superior adhesion, and a lighter grade silicone throughout the rest to ease future opening of the headlight. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...42BBBB6745.jpg |
Install completed. The specs are a Vivo light with a silver finish, white led, the interior of the light was left stock.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/IMG_0657.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s/IMG_0656.jpg |
The lights are awesome. Just returned from driving the car for the first time after the installation. The light beam is focused perfectly. When stopped or driving behind a car they do not flood the interior of the car in front with light. Yet the light flows along the surface of the road lighting up the travel path. Passing along a bridge or guardrails the light pattern stops just along the top edge. Yet, when hitting the high beams the underpass of a bridge is lit. The difference in lighting performance is difference is between factory and these is stunning.
|
Did you check them with the 25 ft method? I found mine had to be adjusted up quite a bit. The cutoff was way too close to the car.
|
Quote:
Yea they are a tad better than the halogens. Not sure about you but I find this cutoff line thing quite addictive on mine. Roads are pretty bumpy here and you get to see that cutoff line going up/down perfectly on dark roads. Feels just like a scanner! Not to mention the other addiction I have flicking the low/high beams... emergency vehicle stuff. Nasty flash lol My other car also has projectors but they are not bi-xenon and are the frosted lens type. Nothing to compared with those Porsche lights at all :( Norm is right, those will adjust @ 25' (or as-per owner's manual). He kindly uploaded the visuals RE adjusting the beam height for those retrofitting with those lights. Thanks to him btw. See: http://986forum.com/forums/420606-post693.html |

Wicked stuff!!! Use when young kids are in bed only. I can picture them calling on mommy if they see a Porsche car with evil eyes coming down their street Thing's alive mouhahaha lol |
Are the red halos legal in the US ?

They could be unplugged in the rear if it became a problem. |
