I've ordered LED bulbs for the replacement but I'm not worried about using the lights as they are. I've not heard of any melting issues from stock bulbs and use them often.

Just did this and it took all of 10 minutes; this is an easy way to make the Boxster more visible. Thanks to the OP!

I have a Canadian car with the DRL module, which has my new projectors on all the time. I'd like to have the fogs perform DRL functionality instead, but...

Removing the DRL module is easy enough, but I don't think that alone makes my car the same as a US car. My relay 12 is the same Type 53 relay as Relays 18-22:



This is not the purple relay that's apparently in US and Japan cars:



Will the Type 53 in position 12 will work to give me the foglight DRL or do I have to get my hands on one of the purple relays?

Or will that not even do it (i.e. other differences)? Canadians?

The bulbs I used last yr are bluish.....not too bad with my lapis blue car but I'd like pure white. What are yours?

Those LEDs look so much better. I am doing my best to keep the Boxster OEM, but this mod is a must do. The leds look so much better with litronic lights.

That's such a subjective topic; not sure how I'd characterize them other than they are clearly whiter/bluer than the stock lights. The eBay description simply describes the color as "white." That said, I believe that the color temp is 6500-7000K, based on this listing for a similar product on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/THG-Lighting-Projector-Reverse-Parking/dp/B00HF0YZ9U

No longer sure what the temp of my led bulbs was. I believe that anything 6000 or above will have a bluish hue. It's too bad that bulb manufactures don't know the difference between white and blue.
The lens on the front of you bulbs perhaps also make a big difference. I just have 3 separate LEDs on the front. Not as much projection. Also, we rarely see lumens listed on the specs of LED bulbs. We can look up the old bulb's output but then have to guess that the LEDs are better.

My US spec car has a type 53 relay in position 12 and it works just fine.

I wasn't able to find the fuse taps suggested, so I made my own from brass sheet. I just cut a couple of strips the right width (.210", 5.5mm) and bend them up so they fit properly. The one on the relay was a bit of a strange shape, but in the end it worked. Love this idea -- thanks for the suggestion!

A friend got some LED H7 bulbs -- the same ones I use for my fog lights and recommended to him, by the way -- and they won't light. We have the same year and model, except that his came with Litronics lights and mine didn't.

It looks liked the fog lights hook up independently from the Litronics, anyhow. Does anyone have a troubleshooting suggestion? Thanks!

Completed the Mod and fog lights come on with key "ON" I assume that the rear Red fog works independently and should not be lighting up.

Is this right ?

Look at post #24 in this thread. They work just fine in Litronics.

Unless the car came from the factory with it' there is no socket or wiring for it

In a subsequent search for another part, I came across an eBay store that sold the DRL module and wiring. Think it was around $67

I would like to run led strip daylight running lights (on a 2001 Boxster S) off a "key on" wire(less than .1 amps). Is there a wire under the "hood"?
I have tried to find a wiring diagram or a post but with no luck.
I would also like to thank the members of this forum for help with the other problems. A starter key switch acting stupid, a brake switch intermittent contact, and an abs sensor just needing cleaning.

I just instlled a LED strip between the light and bumper. There is a harness that runs to the windshield wipers that I tapped into.
