wait for your break in period ends....drive it for a while, trust me theres a lot that this car offeres that evn we cant get out of it, but adding HP to these cars is so messes up, few grand for few hp thats what it comes down to.

Hi,
Another newbie ...just bought a Boxster, where I can I get this Go-Fast part or that? thread... yawn...
Well, first, break the car in, give it and you a Shakedown Cruise. Next, be sure that you're not interferring with the Warranty by adding non-authorized parts and Mods. Then, do your research, there's lots of information to gather before you start throwing money at the Aftermarket. Finally, before anything else, spend some time and $$ on a proper Driving Course so you can use the performance the car already has to it's fullest - best MOD available!
If, after all this you still feel the need to make changes, at least you'll know what you're doing and won't waste time and $$ or hurt the Car. Good Luck!...

Hi,
No, I don't think I'm being at all presumptuous when you post things like changing the OBD (DME in Porsche parlance) software changes the compression ratios. Clearly the depth of your understanding (or at least expression) is not as deep as you may think.
I meant no harm, nor directed any negative comment toward you personally. Take my advice, or reject it, as you choose. Makes me no nevermind...

I think you're being presumptuous when you post something like, "GO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE", as if I haven't ever gotten training or taken courses. Smells like presumption to me.

Hi,
Try Fuel Injector timing, FI duration, Fuel Pressure, Spark Curve, Spark Timing, Spark duration, etc., it's a little more complex than fuel input. The MAPs on the Motronic 7.8 are 500k in size, that's a lot of data and code.
I never said "GO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE" - your words, not mine. I suggested a proper Driving Course as a most effective means of spending your money. If you have already taken quality courses, fine, move on.
So far as the link you post, that is mainly for Motorcycle engines, perhaps car engines (debatable, and not what Porsche advises), but only engines.

The guy in the article said the concept applies to all four stroke engines. I didn't know the other things until you mentioned them, though.
Um thanks. I can google/yahoo that too, that's kind of how I came up with the obd chip for the boxster. It didn't just walk up to me and wink at me. If you actually looked for anything as opposed to just googling/yahooing some words, you'd find that there's virtually NO after market parts for it. Did you bother to check, or was that too much for you? Also keep in mind I am specifically looking to add power. Narrows it down a bit, doesn't it?
Advice is welcomed. I am having trouble seeing how calling me a "newbie" and comparing my thread with other similar "newbie" threads is advice. Maybe because it isn't

I found an obd chip for this car for 1500 bucks. I know those work at least and do add a lot of power. Then again, I can probably mess with the OBD myself to get the same results. All it does it change the compression ratios I think??
Maybe you're right, though. I am being impatient. I just want it to be faster than my dad's sl500. Not that he or anyone else will care...lol. Right now I have to drive like an old lady

Well i dont think you will be faster than your fathers sl, but!... you can take turns much faster than he can ever fathom. One thing i love about my boxster when im driving sorta spirited, i can let the throttle open wide and hear that beautiful roar of the engine while still being able to have time and skill to take the next turn with grace and beauty

Thanks everyone. I didn't buy an S because it's about 10k more also and a lot more to insure. I am only 18 :\ But this dealer didn't have any anyways so I felt better.
Anyways, I think that upped power will just feel better when I drive it, no?

You are going to spend about 5-10k on your base boxster to get S power. Plus, it won't have a warranty or the reliability and you don't get all the other goodies like better brakes... etc etc. Bottom line is, if you have money to spend on aftermarket hp mods and you want more power, you should've bought an S.

I don't want S power. If I was gonna buy an S I would have gotten an 07 anyways. I just want some added power. That's why I think an obd chip would be worthwhile.
Like I said as well, you aren't factoring insurance into this either.
It's easier for me to scrape together a few hundred bucks here and there than to be obligated to a 150-200 more a month. I own a business and I'm not always certain how much I am going to be raking in. I'm just playing it safe I guess.
