You are correct.
On the Boxster gen 3, the ignition switch is CanBus.
According to the PDF I attached, the feed to the ignition and starter, are done at the relay panel (driver side upper kick panel).
I’m sure the PDF will help him to figure it out, but if not, there are a lot of professional installers out there.
