Something else you don't see is a prairie church quite like this one. It was supposedly designed by Bruce Goff in 1949 and built by its congregation out of discarded oil field equipment.
Recently restored through grants and donations. It was almost torn down.
In Bison, the last ghost town I passed through before it got dark.

These still make a classic profile don't they?

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing. That Boxster model has got some beefy tires!
Jealous of your job in that hitting the road in a Boxster for a nice drive sounds alot more fun then sitting in an office all day. Lucky Retroman.

Many thanks, everyone! I do indeed feel very grateful to be doing what I'm doing. I've done the cubicle dance and I don't miss the gray walls and clock-watching.
I think that's the furthest I've driven that car in one shot since the Eureka Springs trip last year. When many 17 year old higher mileage cars would be struggling, this one has been a trooper.
It almost hit 80 degrees yesterday, but with wind gusts pushing 50mph I had to keep the top up.
I'm wondering when we are going to have winter here. It hasn't really shown up yet. the weather can turn on a dime in Oklahoma so I'm fearing a March full of pent-up violent winter storms!

Anytime I see that thstone post or you post I have to look. You have some of the coolest stories and photos and thstone and the best Boxster Spec race videos. I have threatened to do a cross country road trip for awhile. Looking at your photos it will be sooner than later.

i gotta say i am jealous.. that's a good way of daily driving your Boxster. i'm new-ish to this country and there is still so much i havent seen. when i see your photos and read the stories i feel like just jumping in the car and finding some roads and ghost towns.. dying to check out some ghost towns.
sucks that i am down in Miami and to get anywhere close to the interesting parts of this country it's a 8 hour drive. ugh!!
i miss the old days when i was touring my old country Romania for work and finding some adventure along the way.
now it's grey cubicle walls. what a kick in the groin!
please keep sharing, some of us cubicle folks live through your stories

I love towns frozen in time. I wish I could make the time to wander around like that. Well, I guess I could, but I just don't for some reason. Something I shall have to rectify in the future.
