No, because I'm not in the market for another roadster. It's a brilliant car, but not for me. My next car is going to be a land yacht, so there's that.

That's a nice looking car, imo. I had a 10th anniversary NB, and loved it. Nowhere near as good as the 986, but fun!

I had a burgundy NB Miata. It changed my life and spoiled me for run-of-the-mill cars. It was the nicest car I had ever owned. It taught me how a car could drive. It got me ready for my Boxster, even though I had no idea that I would ever own one.
No, I would never purposefully go back to a Miata/MX-5.

- I like the exterior (looks more aggressive and sleek)
- Light (~2,300 lbs)
- Warranty (always nice to have)
- Cheap to maintain
- No-hassle soft-top (one pull with arm gets it up and down while driving - less parts to break down compared to a powered top like the Boxster's)
Cons:
It's not a Porsche
Probably less roomy than the Boxster
Only one trunk
No glovebox
4 cylinder, less hp/torque but weighs less

No. I really miss my 80's Honda Civic CRX si though. I received many compliments on that car and it stayed in the family for 189k miles.

Absolutely no way would I swap, and the same thing with the 86. Why would I want to spend more money on a worse car, and also get hit with new car depreciation?
When I got my Boxster, my friends and friends of friends were queuing up to go for a spin in it. Another friend got a new 86, and that has not had anything like the same effect. It's still just a Toyota. Sports cars are about driving fun, and the feel good factor. The Boxster wins hands down on both counts. The only downside is having to be careful to find a good one, whereas a new 86 or Miata should be guaranteed trouble free motoring.

Say cheeze!!!!!
Won't Masda ever get tired of smiling? This car looks like some fat Japanese guy smiling at you. I expect it to jump up on it's rear wheels and do some animated thing like a cartoon character. I couldn't consider it until then get some reasonable styling.

I think their cup car looks as good as any pre-981 Boxster/Coxster.

Can't be an easy fit with the Boxster either! Do you have the GT3 Console Delete kit? I'm an inch shorter and installed it yrs ago. Don't think I would have kept the car without it.

Ha, I'm also 6'4" and fit fine in the Boxster. The GT3 delete kit definitely helped improve things. The old Miata was a no go! We'll see about the new one. I believe the seat is setup that the further back you move it the lower it goes.

Before buying a Boxster I tried every affordable sports car. The Z4 kinda fit but overall didn't impress me. Older 911s were wonderful for leg room, but I didn't want a roof. The newer gens of the 911 are half console. No room for the leggy driver. In fact, almost every car made has too much console and places the driver in a slot!

Sure...
I would immediately trade-in my Boxster for the new Miata, if they put 50.000$ cash on Top...
...to get the 981 Spyder (they only newer Boxster I would accept looks-wise)
