What causes the screens to come off or break? Since my car came without, I have no way of even analyzing the problem. Are they held on by special clips? I don't see any screw holes anywhere. Do they crack? Are they blown off the car? What's failing with these things? Apparently the previous owner replaced them once already, which doesn't inspire confidence in another purchase.

The inserts are molded plastic and include small tabs which clip onto the roll bar hoops. Over time, the tabs become brittle. Also, air pressure can dislodge the inserts. As Dwight mentioned, I put one small black zip tie on each, and haven't had an issue since.

Can you share a picture of where you guys are zip tying it so it's not visible? I'm always nervous about it flying out but I don't want to zip tie it if it's conspicuous.

Here you go. It's not pretty, but it works. Most people would never notice.

This is kinda what I'm thinking. All this needs is a little piping around the edge to give it a more finished look. It might also be cool with a different style mesh, or maybe a metal screen material of some kind.

I've used a small piece of double sided 3M tape under the tabs instead of a zip tie.

Does anyone know how the plastic trim on the roll bar comes off? I have the same issue with broken tabs and am thinking of an alternative mount or screen. Want to see if the attachment could be integrated into the trim.

It's been a while, but I believe I simply began prying gently at one end of the trim and pulling it off. The trim is held on the roll bar by several expandable plastic pins.
