A few months back I hit 140 on I-80 between Tooele and SLC. Nice long flat road, great weather. Took 20-30 seconds. I pick my spots and there are plenty of places I won't do 2 over. No more tickets.

Speed is a thrill to be enjoyed daily in small sips lest Big Brother spot you and take your fun away from you.

Radar detectors, Waze, glance up in the sky frequently and daily knowledge of the patrol schedules helps you pick and choose your guilty pleasures.

Long duration speeding is best done on the race track where you only need to focus on the roadway, guages and mirrors.

Around these areas I find the biggest problem is people in the PASSING lane are actually going slower than the right lanes and below the legal limit.
It would drive a proper German driver to road rage.

I'd like to have a directional EMP device that would shut down these vehicles and cell phones.

Oh "Q" how are you coming along with that device?

We go over 40km (25 mph) over the posted limit and the car can immediately be confiscated. You find yourself at the side of the road with no vehicle. And there are substantial financial penalties as well.

It depends who pulls you over as well. Most guys if you are friendly not not being a prick, will reduce it as if you were not doing 40 over.

Rest of the times my radar detector is amazing I never thought it would work as well as it does.

Geez, you must be an accountant. I buy mine to drive them as fast as I safely can. If I was worried about the things you mention, I'd buy a Camry and be done with it. You can't truly enjoy these cars unless they are driven the way they were designed to be driven. I could honestly care less what others think of me when I drive in any event. Also, I never get pulled over in my Boxster, and had many more police incidents in my Mustang and 928. I don't see Boxsters as cop magnets at all, at least around here.

First, drive them as fast as I safely can - how do you determine what that speed is then? Cause unfortunately, you are not alone on the road out there. All it takes is for you to be zooming along at whatever your 'safety speed' is - and then all of a sudden someone pulls out in front of you. What do you do then? Hit him, or go into the ditch or try to change lanes quick and hope no one else is there? That's the thing. When you drive over the speed limit, you are risking everyones life, not just yours.
When I'm on the highway, I know if I can safely pass someone based on many factors, one of which is the speed of oncoming traffic. If you suddenly appear out of nowhere because you are zooming along far above the speed limit, that creates a huge issue for me if I'm in the middle of passing someone - someone that I could safely pass if you were obeying the law.
If you want to drive them super fast, take the car to the track or move to Germany and enjoy the Autobahn.

Giller vs Perfect Lap debate

Just another observation...LOCATION.

Ontario Canada vs NJ USA.

When I lived in Canada and drove to work in Toronto every day (40 miles) I may not see a police cruiser along the way every day or for days at a time.

Now in Southern California I drive 15 miles and see no less than 3 police cruisers every day, usually about 6 cruisers on the evening drive.

The quantity of patrol cars here in the US cities is staggering compared to Ontario, Canada. Hence the difference in experiences.

Some days I feel like I'm getting a police escort to and from work
but I have learned their patrol times and locations, plus have radar detector and know where I can turn it loose for a few seconds here and there.

Does your PCAs offers discount at some your local tracks or int'l circuits? They do here.... pcar owners gets 20% discount on track days/session tickets here. Lasrt time I've heard anyway, might be more now dunno

Might be something you guys want to recommend for your local PCA org to look into and organize. I don't personally track my little red boxster toy but have other means to get me going at 200mph on the local circuits. Geez my practice superbike has more horsepower than my boxster lollll

For me the boxster is a fun, peppy and stylish roadster, but nothing to go fast with at all (in a straight line maybe lol). My 2.0 VW Passat is faster for god sake...

I'll save my excessive speed for the track and not the highway. Like I said I keep up with and pass people regularily on the highway..80-90 mph.. It's the other person who doesn't see me I'm worried about!

I've never understood that statement:

"Drive these cars the way they were designed to be driven." [sic]

It's a philosophy that escapes me because it seems to only apply to specific cars (yet BMW people et al., all feel the same way, too) and to nothing else.

For example, should the 2nd amendment-ors here only use guns for what they were designed to do? Of course not. *wink*

Alternatively, if a 2015 Toyota Camry is designed with a top speed of 120mph, was it designed with the intention of people driving 100+mph? Interesting dilemma, wouldn't you say? I mean, if it wasn't meant to be driven at over 100mph, why is it designed with a top speed of 120mph? It doesn't make sense. Why does a Toyota need to go over 90mph? But it does!?!



Sarcasm aside, I really like the combination of the two sentences above - The opinion about the only way one can truly obtain fulfillment, followed by the personal disclaimer. I'll tell you why too - it's truly fantastic - if both statements are true, I don't think that... what's this guy's name... linderpat, yeah, that's it - linderpat - as I was saying, I don't think linderpat has any ground to reply to this post, right? I mean he could care less about what people think about his driving in an event (which is based on the philosophy of driving the car the way it was designed to be driven)- surely, he could care even less about what someone types about these statements, right? Never really understood myself.... all/any cars were designed to be driven. In the context I think what people mean by saying this is the Porsche cars are designed to take the beat-up, you can push them to the limits and they'll still give out plenty.
