Nice looking car. The only thing I don't like is Tags on the front bumper.

Yeah, me too. The issue is it is the law here in Manitoba. Our neighbours to the west, Saskatchewan and Alberta don't need them from what I remember but here they are required. Something about photo radar according to my ex cop Bro in law.

They really do ruin the front end of 99% of vehicles.

Went to the bottle bank, it’s about 15 mins walk there and back. Unfortunately I drove so it took about 2 hours. The car just wanted to go the opposite direction???

I first though something had broke loose inside the muffler. I might add I hear it sometime and sometimes I don't. It seems when back from a drive and everything is hot. Got me stumped!
Several have said it's the DMF. One said, when you press in the clutch and don't hear the rattle when shutting down the engine, it's the flywheel. Someone said a spring is broken in the flywheel. One said it's the transmission.

I just cannot believe this rattle is the DMF, or Transmission. The other day after starting the engine, and the car sat in the garage for a few minutes, I started to back out with the engine at idle rpm's around 6 to 7 hundred. When slowly letting out the clutch I hear this rattle. At that engine speed is when things may vibrate, thus rattles might be heard. I don't hear this noise backing up with the engine up to temperature. My thoughts are it's the darn muffler. I have rubber hammered on it several times but don't hear or see anything loose. Dr. Know around?

Don’t know if this helps as my experience is with the euro system exhaust but you never know.

It was easy to identify the large ones on top of the cats but there are others before the cats around the O2 sensor. These are spot welded on but on mine the welds has rotted away. Real annoying little rattle at a certain rev / resonance.

I cut them off when I had the cats out which is another story. Hasn’t had any effect on anything that I can tell and passed the emmisons test with excellent results.

Thanks, I'll take a closer look, and hammer some more.

Was yesterday, but fell asleep before editing the pic size.

Did an autocross with the local PCA region. My second for the year (or ever), and turned in better times than before.

Changed the spark plug tubes and cleaned up the mess the old ones made

I devised a simple tube removal tool from some strip aluminum that I had lying around. The benefit of this one is that it can be used without removing the spark plugs. It works great

And a before and after of the mess...

Well done sir. Does having the plugs in make it easier to get the new tubes and o-rings inserted?

Rennline

Bored waiting for our 4th of July cookout to start, so I ordered the Rennline pedals/deadpedal and HT extensions (silver pedals, black rubber dots, red HT) with the 10% 4th of July discount code directly from Rennline.

I don't think so, but it was easy, anyway. They came out and went in with no trouble.

I didn't want to take my plugs out because I just replaced them (that was when I discovered the leaking tubes) and taking them back out just seemed like extra work.

I have been thinking about some different pedals....What are the part #'s or item # you ordered....There are a number of pedals to choose from.....

Thanks!

Hi Lew, I ordered the accelator pedal cover rather than the mechanical pedal unit. The brake and clutch pedals require that you remove the oem rubber pads. I think the dead pedal just fits over the existing plastic piece. Mainly I wanted the look and I needed the toe extension for the throttle.

The part numbers I ordered are:

P71.60.59 SILVER Rennline Aluminum Pedal Set - 4 Piece
PE70_71HT RED Rennline Throttle Extension - Heel/Toe

I’ll post some comments and pics after install.

Not sure this goes here or the funny story thread.

I did not close my top when I arrived at work, as it was still cool out was going to make a coffee run before I closed the top. Well ended up 3 people for coffee, so forgot to close the top.

Upon my return to my car when I was going to another location to install an internet connection I had MILLIONS of very small bugs on my car in my car friggin everywhere. So had to go take a short spirted drive to try and blow them out of the car!!!!! Will have to vacuum this afternoon now.
