Anybody out there ever own, or otherwise have experience with, any Mazdaspeed 3s? I have found some pretty reasonably-priced ones close by with low mileage (one under 20k, others under 40k). (The WRXs in my price range---trying to keep this somewhat under $20k if possible---seem to have mileages in the 40-55k range, and are pretty much at that $20k asking price. Don't know how flexible they'd be on that---those cars are fairly few and far between.) The Mazdas were in the $16-17k range. Zoom zoom?

Like I said, people hold on to their Imprezas. Resale is great, both getting in and getting out. I have had a couple of Rx7s and a 626. Rented a Mazda3. They are all great cars. Very driver focused. But they seem to be a little fragile as far as Japanese cars go. Look at the Mazdaspeed6 before making a decision.

I've had my 06 A3 2.0T FWD DSG since July 06 and it now has about 68k miles on it. It's probably the best car I have ever owned. It's a bit numb, especially as compared to the Box, but it does have some decent roadholding chops. I actually rather like the DSG, it works really well, just isn't going to give you the row your own feeling. It gets good millage if you drive it kindly. It's insanely practical for hauling stuff. I'll always own a hatch\wagon. It's just a must. The 2.0T does take about a quart every 5k miles or so, same since day one, and very common. Only issue has been the sunroof latch broke and was repaired under warranty and the AC compressor siezed out of warranty and the dealer went halves on it with me. It's got the same millage as my Boxster (minus 4 years) and the interior bits and pieces have held up much better, although they had a good head start in the quality dept.

If I had to buy another car today it would easily be an A3 or GTI.
