Dyno Results for Dansk Sports Cat on Boxster S

Just got back from the dyno today. Results as follows :

Horsepower (at the wheels)
Base run with Dansk headers : 224.9bhp @ 6,520rpm
Run with Dansk Sports Cat : 231.2bhp @ 6,498rpm
Gain : 6.3bhp at about 6,500rpm

Torque (at the wheels)
Base run with Dansk headers : 180.7ft/lb @ 5,816rpm
Run with Dansk Sports Cat : 186.08ft/lb@ 5,827rpm
Gain : 5.38ft/lb at about 5,800rpm

The fuel used for all dyno is 100 Octane as this is available from most pumps locally.

I've got the dyno graph but gotta find a scanner to scan it in. Basically, the horsepower and torque gain was throughout the rpm range with the exception of 3,000 - 3,500rpm where the bhp was about the same as before.

I'm attaching some before/after comparison photos of the setup and cat itself.

Points to note for installation :

1) You will require 2 U joints (left and right cat) for the connection between the cat and the muffler. The original connectors can't be used. Reason being the muffler pipe now slots into the cat pipe (cat pipe diameter is bigger when previously, its the same as before).

2) The left cat piping will hit against the anti roll bar during hard acceleration. During installation on the hoist, you will NOT see them touching each other. However, you will need to bend the muffler bracket to create more clearance between the anti-roll bar and the cat piping. Right is ok. I had to go back on the hoist twice to adjust the clearance.

3) You will need additional 2 screws per cat as the screws on the original cat are welded onto the cat piping. If you noticed in the first picture. the Dansk Sports Cat does not have any screws welded on. Actually, I would expect Dansk to have supplied this part as it is a bolt on part afterall.

The weights are :

Stock Cat : 8.82lbs
Dansk Cat : 6.61lbs
So there is some savings in weight.

BUT....

Stock Headers : 4.4lbs
Dansk Headers : 7.72lbs!

But I guess the better flow and equal length pipes more than make up for the increased weight.

That's it. I'll probably do the Evo filter only next week.

Looks good Clubhead. Pretty impressive gains as well especially considering you have the stock air-intake. Do you have a bone-stock baseline dyno? It would be nice to know how much the headers/cats add together. How much do the cats and headers cost from dansk? One more thing, what year is your 3.2L?

Nope. I didn't bother doing a totally stock baseline dyno though I did toy with the idea initially. Figured it was too much trouble in the end as the dyno shop and my workshop are a couple of city miles apart. Not to mention the dyno shop is pretty much booked up most of the time.

I'm guessing the sports cat gains may be synergistic with the headers compared to just putting in the sports cat by itself.

I got the headers for $999 and sports cat for $899 both from Mid America.

Mine's a 2000 Boxster S.

That's a nice, clean 2000 S you have there. It's funny you mentioned Mid-America as I only live 45 min away from Effingham IL where it is located. I attended the porsche fun fest there just this past June and every vette fest since about 2000. I have met Mike Yager on several occasions and he is a nice guy who knows how to treat his customers right. The prices are alittle on the high side compared to some, but the customer service is top-notch.

Yes, indeed. Their service is certainly above most online stores I've dealt with. Some of their prices are a little high but there're certain parts which are rather reasonable or even cheap. I'm dealing with Ben who takes care of international sales.

I guess it's mostly a compromise between service and price. departstop offers great prices but customer service is rather slow and at times unresponsive. You still get what you order, just a matter of when I'm putting up with them as some of the parts like Litronics are $300 cheaper than Mid America.

Yeah, I also noted that the Litronics in Mid-America are 400 dollars more than suncoast at $1400. The Euro tail lights are also about a 100 more than I've seen at many places. But, you are right about there being some good deals in the catalog.
