    P0501 can have multiple sources:
-wiring break between the ABS module and the DME
    -Left rear sensor faulty
    -Faulty ABS module

To test the left rear sensor, it should have 1.6-1.8K ohms resistance; if it does not, it is bad and needs to be replaced. If it is OK, the problem lies elsewhere.

    Hey Jeff,
Hope you are well. I saw in your post about the P0501 code. I have a 2000. Is this for the left rear speed sensor? My ABS light went on, spoiler lighgt and check engine. Speedometter stays at zero. Should I replace the left one right?

To correctly install S rear brakes on a base car, you need to change out the rear bearing carriers to the S units. There are no rear “spindles” on these cars, what you are looking at is the end of the half shaft stub.

I have a 2002 boxster automatic. I want to upgrade to S brakes. My question is, for the rear brakes, can I change the rear spindles to S spindles? Would that solve the e brake problem? Will the spindles just replace the non s ones? or do they have different measurements than the non S? I saw on another forum you stated Brembo makes machined rotors that i can use, but they are expensive...I was thinking this might be a cheaper solution. Just put on the S spindles, new rotors and the
s calipers, and I would be good to go. Thank you for any input! PK

From ads like these, it is pretty much impossible to tell anything about the condition of the car, plus one link did not work.

When looking at used Porsches, you really want to stay away from car dealers as they will know nothing about the car's history, and have little incentive to make a deal. Ideally, you would want to look at car's with complete service history records available, and with owners that will commit the car to and independent inspection by the shop of your choice. Do not depend upon Carfax reports as they are well known for being inaccurate.

    Good luck in your search.
