Hey JFP- I am in need of some expert advice as I am right in the middle of reassembly and I confused myself in regard to timing. I posted in my thread, but havent received an answer so far.

Will the index marks on the intake cams always be opposite from bank 1-3 to bank 4-6? Or will they always be the same?

If bank 1-3 on my car is at TDC and the exhaust marks are parallel with the cam cover seam- the intake mark is facing outward.

But at the same time its the exact same way on cylinder 4-6?

I have to be 360 out?

Hey JFP- quick question that I know you will be able to help me with. Do I need to remove the brass(?) plugs in the ends of the camshaft in order to install the holding tool? I removed the green plugs for the ends of the cams, but there does not seem to be any way to thread in the holding tool into the cams themselves.

    Thanks for any help!

For future reference, I rarely if ever look at this area, so don't be surprised if responses are slow in coming.

Your MAF had absolutely nothing to do with the vacuum in your crank case. The vacuum signal generated there comes only from the AOS.

    Hi jfp in pa.

The reason I'm doing the vacuum test is because I kept getting one or both p1128 and 1130 error code. Is it safe to assume its my aos and not my maf with a vacuum reading of 8 inches?

JFP in PA, You sent me the response (below) to my post o 1/31.

Two of the specific diagnostics steps in the decision tree for P0430 are to check the EVAP canister purge valve and the line connecting the EVAP canister purge valve and in intake system, as a problem with either will throw off the TWC conversion on bank 4-6. As you are showing a “fail” for the fuel tank ventilation system, which is the EVAP system, I’d start looking there.

I wish to follow on HOW TO: check the EVAP canister purge valve and the line connecting the EVAP canister purge valve. Can you offer any advise on how to go about testing the system, or the decision tress steps? I have read a lot of post regarding discussing EVAP issues, but I have no related codes showing up only the Durametric Ready status "fuel tank ventalation / FAIL" when activating fuel evaporative valve test. Thanks for your help, Phil

I've just done the dumbest thing of my life and I really need your advice. I just poured oil in the coolant tank. I've drawn as much as I can back out with a turkey baster but I don't know what to do next. The car was warm but not running. 99 986, 2.5. Do I have to take out the coolant tank and clean it or is there an easy fix? Or has the whole system been contaminated? I feel sick...

    JFP,
I spoke to my mechanic, he claimed that her pushed the seal by using porsche tool. For this new seal, can he use the same tool? I remember that the old seal (which his tool is meant for) pushes the seal 11mm and this new seal is 13mm. Or he should use different tool for this...
