Adding fuel pressure sensor
Sorry for all the posts...
I want to add a fuel pressure switch for a custom warning system. The easiest place seems like the test port on the bank 1 rail. However, from what I have been able to find it is a screwy thread size which would require an adapter to a schrader valve (since that's what most of the diagnostic gauges use) and then another adapter from a schrader valve to 1/8 npt (which is what most switches use).
That seems sloppy, and a lot of joints that may leak.
Any suggestions?

Why not use the pressure release that is a schrader valve?

I've read that's it's not a true schrader valve and requires a special adapter. I don't know that for sure though and haven't been able to find hard confirmation anywhere.

Thanks JFP... Talk about an obscure fitting!
I saw a post of yours many years ago where you recommended the actron pro fuel pressure tester system and that it included the necessary adapter. Would you mind to please point out which part it is in this pic?

Now that I'm thinking about this more... If it's a Schrader valve fitting, I wonder if the valve core can be removed? Or if the entire fitting can be removed from the rail? I havent messed with it too much yet because I don't have a replacement cap but I should probably get that ordered and get to gettin...

The small fitting just above and to the right slightly from the one with the red plastic cap/

In their product manual, Actron describes that adapter as the Ford fitting. It just so happens that glow shift makes a custom coupler for Ford fuel rails with a 1/8npt female for a pressure sensor! Many thanks!

I looked into purchasing that same Actron gauge when I was having some issues several years ago. You just need a $9 Actron adapter PN: 180-000-1299, Right Angle Large Schrader Adapter. So assuming this is a "standard" schrader valve, here are the dimensions for the thread - 0.305****in (7.747****mm) x 32****TPI[4]****(1⁄32****in or 0.7938****mm****pitch) also regret to as an 8v1-32. Good Lord, I've never seen a thread designation like that. Who comes up with this ****************?!?! Amazon has taps in that thread but no adapters. 8mx.75 would be the closest thing in a metric equivalent but adapters on that thread size are also nearly non-existent. Here's the link to the glow shift product - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09J1MT52X/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_3?smid=A3Q5L29ROA0I31&psc=1. There's a similar one on eBay as well.
The good news here is that if this information is correct, then any high quality valve stem cap can be used to replace the one on the fuel rail (which costs over $10 from our forum supporter!).
Btw, something else I learned. With a schrader valve, the internal valve is actually only considered to be an access or service point. It is not actually considered to be the primary seal. The o-ring in the cap is the primary seal. This is why it should be replaced if manipulated on our car. Ya learn something new every day!
