I did my own exhaust manifold bolts not too long ago, on an 80k mile motor, and again on a 150k mile motor. Both came off without any breakage! I was, frankly, shocked. haha.
Patience. lots of patience. If it starts getting tough, put your finger on it, and feel it. if it's warm, you're stretching it and you're gonna break it. Hit it with some penetrating oil and let it sit while you work on another one.
