So sorry to hear that someone close was lost. We're all a big family here, so yes, we really do care. Cars are great and Boxster's are even greater ( ) but we all know what really matters in life and that is the people that we love.

Good to hear from you and wish you the best going forward.

So sorry to hear of that sad situation. Life sometimes does indeed suck.

Not harp about the oil change thing, but it's best to change the oil while it's still hot (at operating temperature for at least half an hour; it's best to drive the car to get it to true operating temperature. Letting it idle to warm up truly doesn't get the oil hot enough). That way all the bad stuff is still suspended in the oil and it will drain out of the motor along with the oil. If you let it cool down, then the bad stuff will settle and solidify in the bottom of the sump again.

Welcome back Fred! You were missed and glad that you are well. I am certain your efforts were very important to your family. Great to have you back posting on the board & hope you get some time on the road with your car very soon.

Tires were kinda new from last year, 1.5 years I think, but I'll sure keep this in mind. Was parked on a hard concrete surface so that can't be good. Hrrr you shouldn't have told me that :/

Maybe my tires on my Tacoma were parked closer to a year, and they were cheap Sigma tires or some such thing, I was actually layed out with cancer that year which is why I didn't drive it. You are probably OK but if you are driving and you start to feel a "whump whump whump" you will know what it is. I hadn't felt a tire delaminate since my $10 used tires when I was younger so I didn't pick up on what was happening (although i could feel something I didn't associate what it was) until a strip of rubber separated and really started whacking the body of the car...

Geez my Box sits every winter for 6 months at a time (November-April) (when the snow is on the ground) and I haven't changed the tires yet!

Fred, you;re an Icon around here! I'm new (joined around April-ish.) but even I'M aware of your legendary status here. hehe.

Glad you're back!

Oh, and I'm part of the "My Boxster (will) sit for 6 months out of the year due to snow on the ground" group. It's not going to bother me any more than it has any of my other vehicles my entire life.
 :-)

I don't know Fred as I'm new here, (Welcome back anyway!) but if the car is standing on its wheels for a few months, it's best to pump up the tire pressure to near the max.
This will prevent flat-spotting of the tire.
Just don't forget to let some air back out before starting to drive again!

OMG, Fred, so good to see you posting again. I've really been worried about you, Googling your name and Shanghai, looking for news, fearing the worst. Sorry to hear that you lost someone close to you; you're a good man for taking care of your friend in her time of need. Welcome back, friend.
