Maybe I am being to hard here. I just dread flying back today to Toronto. I have not been there in two years. The lazy French bums at the embassy would not help me renew my passport quick enough so I have no choice but to return and get one issued from inside the Regine. After trying for a week to renew my passport without luck I have been disliking everything Canadian.
To get back on topics, any one know where I can rent a Porsche in Toronto?

Just to show how much American Porsche owners love Canada, I am going back to visit their strip clubs. I don't want to, but I feel obligated as a goodwill ambassador.
On topic: I recommend renting a big Truck and driving it while you are there, when you get back it will be like adding 100hp to your Boxster.

cartagena!!! you mention the car is yours but what about the sexy babe on front!!!
on a more serious note. (full stop) this is for bruce!!
here we have a similar problem, first we drive on the other side of the road which does not help buying cars from a different country.(full stop) hi Brucee!!
one of the most common is obliviously England, 1st problem sterling very high, nearly 50% more than euro.
secondly cars here are way more expensive than England, so this is good i can hear you all saying.
unfortunately, this is how it happens, and i will take the exemple of my friend who just bought his db9.
no aston dealer here so went to the north to buy in sterling his car, pay the exchange rates then the Irish governement add a small (yeh right) 27% of the equal cost of the same car here!!
Canada is not the only country that stinks when it come to cars
and i am not even mentioning the 1000euro per year road tax for my S
see ya

Cars in Canada

At current exchange rates, the US car is only $62K in Canadian Dollars - $15K cheaper.
Why are cars here (in Canada) so much more expensive than in US?
|
I read a couple of the helpful responses and had to laugh. Porsche is not the only car that is cheaper in the states. It's a fact of life across the board. The car companies do not adjust their prices for exchange rates every month or year. It's more like every 5 years. Just 3 years ago with a 25% exchange rate in favour of the USA it was cheaper to buy any car in Canada. We were shipped any used car we could find state site. This has changed and we now are paying the price. Oh and we have many other things that cost a lot because of our health care system. But oddly enough, in any economy there are those that can buy Porsches and those that can't.
I like reading this forum because you can pretty well say anything that come to mind. If you're looking for good local Porsche info contact your local PCA. I plan on purchasing my next classic Porsche in LA and trucking it back to Canada.

I think you're bang on airboxster.
This is a response from Porsche on the same question:
Hello,
Thank you for your comment. Pricing strategy is a long range proposition and does not fluctuate with the currency markets. At certain times, 2000-2003 for instance, our pricing resulted in a discount of Canadian cars versus U.S. cars. We acknowledge that the current situation we are in now reversed and are looking at the impact this may have on our business. However, there is no immediate plan to adjust Canadian pricing. Should you need further assistance please dont hesitate to call 1-800-Porsche.
Kind Regards,
The Porsche Response Team

exactly........our used car department at bmw was advertising all over the u.s when the american dollar was strong. we sold cars all over the states, from california to new york city. these customers saved atleast $5000 on $50,000 car purchases when the dollar was in there favour.
but.........you do know that this is with almost every product in the u.s. we buy digital equipment from the states and here in canada the price is about $100 more expensive on a $500 product. we changed all of our suppliers and are now buying products in the states and it has nothing to do with the currency being strong or weak...it does favour us right now but everything is just cheaper to buy in the AMERICA.....
this is all you have over us cartengena.......you should of just said i hate canada because everything is soooo dam expensive.

This is one of those United Nations (neo-commie) surveys that always favor Comrade Countries like Canada. If you go ask all the poor welfare bums (that Canada has no shortage of) then of course they will say they love the place. All the hard working smart people have already left. Why would anyone with real skill remain in Canada when they could make so much more money in the United States?
It is too bad you keep bringing up this topic but it does not change the fact that Canada sucks. Forget the fact I live in Colombia, I was in 7 countries last year, and everyone of them is better than Canada. I am in Canada right now as I write this message and I am totally bored. It is a nice hot summer day and there is nothing to do. Fun is illegal here.
