It's the Continental TR7412UB-OR. The only colour is an amber/orange colour, but it looks like it will match pretty closely. That image is of it in a 993 or 964. I bought one, but I'm just waiting for my adapter to come in. I didn't want to splice into my harness. It has Bluetooth, USB, so forth. Continental also has one with a CD player. I plan to route the Bluetooth microphone to the factory location (left of the gauges). You can find it on eBay or buy it from Tore Bergvill on his website. He sells the systems, but also makes the adapter harnesses. Here's another pic with the illumination on.

The Continental unit is about as factory look as you can get short of of a "Porsche" radio.
They have pretty good reviews. They do cost a little more $150-$200 IIRC

Yes, I think I paid around $180. Pretty reasonable given the appearance is a pretty good match.

Today I installed a Pioneer that I got for $99 from Crutchfield, and it included the radio removal tools and wiring adaptors for free. My CDR 220 had developed a symptom where the radio function worked only intermittently. Pricing a replacement CDR 220 on eBay showed that getting a decent one was going to cost around $300, so it was a no-brainer to get a new stereo.
The install was actually pretty easy, although the wiring instructions that came with the adaptors had the 12v switched and constant supply wires reversed.
The good news is that the sound is so much better than the Becker! I would agree that the new stereo certainly doesn't look as good as the original Becker, but at least I could set the colors to a matching orange. Overall, I'm very pleased.
I didn't realize how much I listened to the radio until it died!

Sorry, I have read through this thread a few times. Still not clear whether I can swap in an after market stereo with my CDR 220 in my 2000 2.7 without replacing the other parts of the stock stereo system. i think mine has the hifi option, so I guess that means factory amp? Thanks.

You should be able to swap the stereo no problem. My 2002 base has the optional Bose system with the amplifier mounted in the front trunk and the rear speaker box. In the installation kit I got from Crutchfield the amp wiring has it's own adapter, which goes from the stock connector going to RCA style plugs that go into the stereo.

Replacing head unit.
Just replaced my Becker CR 220, with a Kenwood KMM BT518 HD. Harness that came with it was 1787 from Crutchfield. On my 2002 Boxster S, I had the Bose 5000 System. I had never heard of the 5000, but it had the rear speaker system, which worked well with the Becker system. The supplied harness from Metra #1787 was fine but rear speakers did not work. I discovered that the brown connector had only 4 connectors, whereas the Becker connectors had 8 connectors. Tracing back, coonectors 1,2 and 7,8, from the Becker plugs were non-existent in the 1787 plugs. Connected the missing connectors to the brown plug and "voila" have superb sound. Any comments or help, contact me!
