to really put a twist on things, what if jake raby supplied a coa and a 'Flat6' hood crest with every engine he built? his engine program is even more intrusive and complete than what ruf is doing with the 986/996 platform. perhaps work with rennline, brembo, momo, ksport, tarett, etc., to get 'Flat6' branded brakes, steering wheels, shift knobs, suspension, etc. you realise that most of the components sold by ruf for their 986/996 program are rebranded from other vendors ...

I thought about doing something like this but I don't think there's much of a market for $50,000 986's.
I thought it was interesting that RAC's 3.6 coversion claims to use a GT3 DME.

the gt3 dme is odd and interesting. only for the x51 cars, but there is a 996 x51 flash so why the need? a quick visit to the pet shows that the ecu is the same for 996 and gt3, so only a different flash? why? byprodriver - you should see if you can push a gt3 flash onto your car instead of the 996 flash you are currently running! or an x-51 flash. faster through technology! thing is, both run hotter cams so timing might be a bit wonky.

If I buy parts from Porsche Motorsport does that make my Boxster a race car?

i guess that depends on whether you race it. the real question is whether you can call it an rsr cup car. if you build it exactly the same way porsche motorsport does, with all their parts (or better) then why not? isn't that how a lot of the privateers roll?

Maybe they use the GT3 DME for the higher redline?
My 3.6L is a 5-chain engine so not a option for it.

well, gt lumps are two chain ... no idea what sensor reconfiguration rac had to do to make it all work, if any ...
there's been a euro gt3 since 1999, so you might have access to a row gt3 2000 tune on your pst2 ...
what's the worst that could happen?

Each of our engines are serialized. They come with a unique door jamb ID decal, mainly for ID purposes if the cars are sold in the future. We also do offer a COA with every engine, and always have.
We did this from day one, because we knew people would lie about having our engine at the time of sale, so we kept the market honest by employing this.
That said, we don't advertise and hardly even send out newsletters. I don't even have a single banner ad, and in the last 2 years I've spent less than 1K on advertisement. We don't need it, our work finds us, because no one else does what we do. Why advertise and waste money when we can't keep up as it is?
BTW- I buy broken Porsches and hold them for special projects all the time. They are opportunities for potential buyers that want something different, and want it Raby powered. Again, I also don't advertise having those cars, but since I have 16 of them and had to become a licensed car dealer, I am about to release the inventory to the public for the first time.
