It's probably most pricey to purchase the filter wrench from Porsche sources.
The wrench I use is something I've had for almost 20 years. Have used it on
Mercedes M103 engine
Mercedes M112 engine
Mercedes M272 engine
VW TDI
BMW Oilhead motorcycle
It's pretty common, that is, and pretty much a "German standard." Except for the M103 which was metal and too long ago to remember, the torque figure for ALL listed and for the Boxster has been 25 nm. As I say, "German standard."
Basically the entire German auto industy has converted to canister-type filters from all metal spin-on filters because of the environmental benefits. There is ZERO benefit to the suggested retrofit.
