Jake R., others: Help with IMS-G wiring install

Getting ready to wrap up my IMS-Guardian installation. Before putting the car up on jacks, I thought I'd have the route for the wiring harness mapped out and ready to go.

So... I pulled all the carpeting/padding from around the engine, leaving me here:

You can see the wiring and the connector for the IMS-G on the floor. But when I began pulling the lower section of carpet away from the bulkhead, I was unable to see any bulkhead plugs...

Just looking for a little reassurance and perhaps a tip... should I keep going in this area? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Closer to the center of the car? Toward the driver's door? Would I be better off on the passenger's side? (It looks the same, by the way, but I haven't gotten down near the floor yet on either side.)

Appreciate any help anyone can offer... thanks.

See the video at the following URL: The IMS Guardian - Designed and developed by Flat 6 Innovations offered exclusively by LN Engineering. It's near the bottom of the page. There is also an installation manual available.

Step 16 shows how to thread the wiring through the body. It starts at about 9:56.

From what I see, the port is near the driver's side door.

thom...

Funny, I was reviewing the video again just before seeing your post. I think you're right. Getting at it is going to be a bit more difficult than the video suggests. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for your help.

Step 8, Helpful Hint #1 of the on-line installation manual says that in "rare" instances there isn't an access port. Probably easiest to see if one exists from the engine side of the firewall. I'd think the rubber plug would be obvious.

Mine was tuff. Took me over an hour to get it thru. It is not a straight pass as it was in my case but using both hands from front and back and a flexible piece of plastic - used a long zip tie, I was able to get it thru. You may be better off drilling if you find it not working.

I have installed a bunch of them...

... and for me the easiest way of touting the wiring is to punch a 1 inch hole through the firewall.
Then use a rubber grommet and finally seal with aluminum tape.
Happy Boxstering

Pedro,

Did you do that in the area shown in my 2nd photo? (Over the right in that image.)
