I'll admit that I've been wrapping headers for so many years that I didn't even pause to consider that these are actually "under" the motor, and that may change how I feel about it. Primarily because I won't SEE them as often, and I'm less likely to notice a problem before it is one.

Were the incidents you're referencing simply wrapped? Or were they wrapped and coated with silicone, as mine are, and as recommended?
