I installed rear speakers from Harvey. Anyone know what these badges he sent with the kit are for?

I have the same rear speaker kit - but didn't get any badges. I have no idea where they might go. Best guess is that he just threw them in as a memento.

Put on my lead boots and took a long drive.

Gave her a new Backside

I had to get rid of the orange this weekend. Some will like it, some won't.

Who is Harvey and what kind of speakers does he have?

I dropped it off at the shop as my driver's side window would not go down, and this project looked to difficult.

Took a drive out to East Texas to the Jefferson area. These shots are from Lake O' The Pines.

Drove to work and gave a lift to a german friend who comes from near Stuttgart and went for a meal outside Cambridge. Colleagues stood around the pub car park admiring and making respectful comments. It's been raining today so I put (her) away in the garage and dried the paintwork with a towel. Safe and dry now as it's the evening and it may rain again. I am thinking of calling her 'Gemma'

Harvey sells the Boxster rear speaker kit on eBay to install speakers into the rear compartment. This kit is identical to the kit that Porsche used to sell. The kit does not include the rear compartment itself, just the speakers, wiring, and mounting hardware. Takes a few hours to install. Do a search on the forum and there are a few "how to's" to help you with the install.

The resulting sound quality is good but not great. Don't expect this to make the stock sound system into concert hall quality. But it does fill out the sound so you don't just have the front dash speakers blasting at you.

I have put spare rims/snow tires on my 2001 Boxster base. A little early yet, having some mild weather but I hate being caught out.

I know what you mean, the forecast says above 0 all week but they could be way off and it snows tomorrow haha

I am retired so I have time to do things like this early. My snowtires actually give a better ride - they have way more tread than the summer ones.

Put the top down and took the long way home from work! still love to hear the engine above 4K rpm.

thanks. been tempted to do this too. was it an easy install? anyone done it and regret it? (because of the hassle of removing wires etc to get to engine)

Rained this morning, wife needed a ride into Philadelphia so we used her car. Boxster rested in the garage all day. Didn't get to drive it at all. I did manage to rub the head lights though. Can't wait for work tomorrow, then I get to drive

Deserion 09-27-2012 06:32 PM

Took it on a short drive (top down) to the auto part store to pick up a radiator hose for my Mercedes.

Thanks for the link. I have the rear speakers already but I am not very impressed. Anyone have any comments concerning Harvey's speakers vs OEM? I have thought about upgrading all of the speakers at some point but that will have to wait for now.

I was scared…cutting into the rear deck but got over it when I heard the pair of JVC 230w 3-way speakers ON TOP of the rear storage box ROCK LOUDLY! Much better bass than those little bitty ones put out. Better bass than the stock ones in the door!

There were a couple of tricks - like a quick disconnect to get to the engine. All total, for the rear speakers, wiring, etc. was $60 and some time. Granted, with the top down I have to OPEN THE REAR BOX to rock out but with a Wind Deflector I can still hear the music at 80mph (only turned up ¼ of the way-I have replaced the amp, stereo and all speakers).

Here's a pic of the speaker type. HINT: Low Profile…..easy!

Here's the quick disconnect…$3ea. ($6) Radio Shack

Hope it helps someone avoid "sounding bad".

Nice work on the speakers.
