Impressive speed! Did mundane stuff as in putting all loose tools in the front trunk where they are supposed to be (attached to the spare tire) in an effort to minimize rattles. Is my 2001 Box loosening up or is it just poor housekeeping? Test drive needed!:)

Friday drove from Burbank up to Paso Robles - took I-5 up over the Grapevine, then took local road 166 - 33 - 58 (with a small excursion on 229).

After Paso drove over to Cambria then down PCH to SLO then back to Burbank on 101.

Saturday was wash and wax day.

That's pretty much what mine looks like. Same wheels too. Just that I changed the headlights and tails and side indicators to led ones. Man gotta get the chance to clean the car for pics. Weathers been bad recently.

Got it washed, put the top down and finally took some pics of it to post on this forum :D

If I hadn't bothered with the handbrake it would have been a nice quick job :)

Did a quick recon mission behind the door card to see why the inner handle has issues .

Ordered a new spring for the inner handle online .

Put a new battery in the new remote key-head .

I did the same thing. Except I didn't bother with the parking brake shoes. Anybody know how to bleed the PSM pump?

I finished it off tonight after work ...
When I changed the handbrake shoes over weekend I accidentally broke one of the retaining springs
A quick hour tonight and all is well :D

Ha! That's why I didn't touch mine. :)

There was noise when we got the car and all the brakes needed doing and the handbrake shoes where only $17 extra .

After a 10mph driveby in the street last night , It seems to have cured the noise , but we will find out tonight ... Pch and a picnic :D

I forgot to mention that I had also been hearing a clunk around the passenger visor area ,so the 2 torques got tightened .

I'm trying to get rid of all the small noises etc before the lowering and exhaust goes on :)

Bravo! I did something similar last year, but the drive was 3500 km and took three days. Fun way to begin ownership!

The Socal rain made us cancel the pch cruise and picnic so the only thing g I did to the car yesterday was hitched a ride to the grocery store when I ran out of corona :D

Now the brake noise as gone It is a lot quieter and i can hear the other wheel bearing grumbling .
Luckily I already have its replacement in the trunk .

Today's job will be I stalling the side stripes ....

How did you suppress the urge to take her out for at least 30 minutes?

I was thinking of driving up and down the 8 mile Hwy by my house, but I would have had to move my wife's car and for some reason I never feel like doing that. I have a two car garage and a long one car drive way that opens up to two and my wife parks her touareg at the very end. I can't wait to buy a different house with a wider drive way as I have had to valet cars all my life to get my car out of the garage.

I have to do the same thing, it's so annoying

Finally, a few pics for you, Suffered a stroke in Feb....decided to sell me dd, 06 MX-5, and find an older Boxster. PO had LN retrofit done in Mar 2011. I had the top replaced Monday moving to glass window. Had the wheels powder coated. Discovered "Plasti Dip" from reading posts on this forum, dipped the front grills and center caps.

What's really weird, key motivation was to move to Tiptronic....every day driving....not trying to justify moving away from manual, but in my case I'm pleasantly surprised. When I need my "fix", I take the C4s up to Prescott.

Very nice stable you there Verhag!

I picked my car up at the local dealer after a very scary 3 weeks, me and a lot of other people thought my engine was kaputt. Turns out to be a couple of coil packs were gone. Thanks Larry, my new best friend and THE guy!

Verhag 07-26-2013 03:16 PM

I had just finished reading your thread....glad it worked out for. I was feeling your pain reading most suggested diagnosis.

Ordered 1st oil change parts today. Took the road out of Bryce up to Torrey and back once, fabulous drive!

Yes we.
Me and the guy who makes the stripes for a LOT of the pre73s that wear them , and debbie whose car it is .
I'd say it was done in about 30 minutes , but did not time it .
The reason it is so high is that I am experimenting with the design of certain parts of the boxster compared to the older 911 models that these stripes emulate .
At the moment , both sides are different , and I am kinda convinced that one side will be permanent , but might yet change my mind once thevcar is lowered next week .
It may all look very different then !! :D

Coffinhunter 07-27-2013 09:39 AM

Just got done giving Sancha a good detail. Used my new pressure washer to get some of the hard to reach places in the wheels. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1374946777.jpg

KRAM36 07-27-2013 11:33 AM

Changed the oil for the first time since I got the car. Easy job and no metal in the oil filter.

cardiffgiant 07-27-2013 11:46 AM

Took it to defensive driving class, so that my last speeding ticket could be reduced to a parking ticket.

Marty S 07-27-2013 11:23 PM

I attended the Porsche's and Pontoons event at High Rock Lake in Lexington, NC. Although, the weather was not great, the cars, food and people were. Anytime you can get that combination together a great time is sure to entail.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1374996185.jpg

Marty S 07-27-2013 11:29 PM

Another picture from Porsche's and Pontoons. Unfortunately, it rained enough that you needed a pontoon, just to get to the event.

deptotpr 07-28-2013 10:40 AM

Completed headlamp restoration, and when I removed the tape which was to initially protect my paint, I pulled off some clear coat. Time for a paint job $$

Couple days ago I installed new fuel filter as well as replaced a few of the under body panels.
