Oh boy I just drove my car for the first time. :D

Got some bugs but should be all tidied up soon enough. :D

Ohtwo986S 11-09-2020 04:30 PM

Replaced the frunk actuator and put in new hood struts. Finally after owning the car for two months I can access the frunk.

And to think the shop I took it to wanted to charge me $280 for that not even including new hood struts. HA!

Congrats, Qingdao!

Today I changed my seats back from the 996 GT3 seats to the original stock heated seats. While I was "in there" I installed the ECU Doctors waterproof immobilizer case. I also took my Brey Krause roll bar extension off. The GT3 seats are great for the track and comfortable for driving, but getting in and out of the car is a pain. The stock seats felt like a comfortable old pair of shoes! Last weekend I put my 17 inch wheels and tires on and gave my brake calipers a good washing while the wheels were off. In a few weeks I'll put the hardtop on. It has been in the 70's here in the Northeast the past few days so I took it out for a top down test drive this afternoon after the seat change was completed.

I saw the video last night on Facebook, unless there is someone else who just finished the same engine swap. I had to have the volume off though as my wife was already asleep. Nice work!

Yeah, that's me. I can't figure out how to upload a video on this website. I'm terribly incompetent when it comes to technologies (hence the carb sitting on top LOL).

She's really coming along. I looked up some of the wire diagrams while I was bored at work today. I think I'm just gonna hot wire the cooling fans directly to the 4 relays under the dash with a thermoswitch on the block.

Reset Air Bag light and Deoxit 5

I used my new Foxwell nt 510 elite ODB to read and reset air bag warning light! Worked great. Error was actually the driver's seat belt - low voltage is my guess based on other posts and my scenario of starting the engine without my seat belt on... triggering the seat belt alarm and a low voltage hit on the related air bag warning system.

So, bought a can of Deoxit 5 electrical contact cleaner and applied it to the seatbelt receptacle and connection to the bar under the seat as noted in other posts. Magic!

Washed & cleaned my Boxster and took a lenghty drive around southern Finland. Then placed it to hibernation for the winter after this driving seasons 21701km (approx. 13484mi) and it was smiling each km with this car
Planning to do some maintenance work on the car during winter

I drove it up and down the street between rain showers. Roads were wet so I was able to hoon around a bit in a local empty parking lot. Have a hard time breaking away with the 2.5l engine and sticky 265s in the rear. So the wet roads make it easy.......And fun.

Also, cant say enough about Ben's SSK. Really changes the feel of the car!

Ciao 11-17-2020 12:24 PM

Remove summer tires and installed all-weather tires in prep for winter, but will most likely winterize and not drive from Dec - Apr/May

Installed new Porsche OEM hood struts:dance:, re-installed electrical hood release button (it popped out), and lubed the drivers side door.

Haven't exactly done this yet, but I just ordered a Rennline shift knob. I'm super excited for it since I've been driving on Ben's short shifter on the factory knob for a few months now.

Zzorro 11-27-2020 03:18 PM

Bought everything I need to do the transaxle oil change. Went with Lucas products. I've heard good things. I'll tackle it this weekend I think. One more thing to check off my list.

*UPDATE. Done. Easy. Only tricky part was getting off and on the aluminum braces and cover plate to access the drain and fill plugs. Needed a little persuasion. Not a lot, just enough.

MrBen 11-28-2020 08:23 PM

Took it for a quick drive. Rolled it into the big barn for the winter nap. Only put 2200 some miles on this year, normally I do about 5k. No blues on the mall,no car shows, no musical fountain, no festivals, it was a lost summer. I did buy a new boat so that took up a lot of my free time, but I miss taking the boxster to some event. Hopefully next summer we can put this bs behind us

Clean and waxed for winter storage. We're expecting snow in Central PA but I'll get it out if we get a nice day with clear roads.

Gave the Box a new stablemate this weekend. 2018 Cayenne Platinum Edition. CPO, one owner, 22,400 miles. For the Box, my 3.8 FSI build is underway.

Still haven’t decided if I want to wrap mine, but learned about the fuse panel today while finally tackling the heated seats

I’m sure it did! Looks great

Finished installing a new top AND replaced the expansion tank. I will never again replace the expansion tank. I ran out of all my Sailor words putting that thing in.

Well done. Agree. Coolant expansion tank is the worst! It so bad that you don't even feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards.

Changed oil in preparation for winter storage; on 1690 miles driven this past summer.

JBauer 12-20-2020 02:16 PM

Ugh 3" short of enough wrap to finish my front bumper 😑🔫
97" left, front bumper is 100" wide.

Noooooooooo. Red stripe down the middle?

JBauer 12-20-2020 04:22 PM

If I wouldn't of ruined one qtr panel and had to start over I would of had just enough. I ordered 5ft X 50ft so that's what it takes with no mistakes.

MrBen 12-20-2020 06:31 PM

What about the mirror s

I've got 97" X 60" left on the original roll to do mirrors and probably my whole hardtop. The problem is I'm 3" short to do the front bumper. I'd have to seam it vertically and that would look tacky. If I wouldnt have ruin a big sheet on one of the quarters I'd have enough. Not counting the hardtop.

Deserion 12-21-2020 04:37 AM

Oil change completed, clean filter. :)

I finally got my heated seats working!

I had installed some 987 seats in my 986 Boxster and the new seats were heated, but my car never came with the heated seats option. I just put made a series of videos showing you every part needed and every step to take if you want to add the heated seat option to your car using stock switches and even the stock fuse location.

Here is a link to the playlist that has the entire video series. I hope this helps a lot of people that have been trying to do the same!

Yeah, did mine in 2014, I had to start using the Philippine words on top of my sailor words... Even with the right tool it was still a PITA.

Picked up some lightly used Cobra Suzuka seats on Rennlist...and realized that I don't have the right brackets to mount them :o

I applied a one-step porcelain coating to Mrs. Peel. It's Aero Flight Shield, it's only $29.99 for a small bottle, and a typical consumer can use it if the prep work is properly done.

The paint surface is like a mirror, now. Look at the right rear fender in the photo and focus on the reflection of the trees. It works very well. And Mrs. Peel is impressively shiny now.

Don't forget to cover the license plate of the Ford.

I was feeling the need for more horsepower, so I installed stripes and replaced a window regulator. Took her our for a short drive in the rain after I installed the stripes, couldn't really feel any increase in horsepower. BUT, that new window regulator seems to have really improved the handling!!! :)http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1609375811.jpg

If I were you I'd get a refund on those stripes! Stripes ALWAYS give you more noticeable horsepower! Those are obviously defective! ;)
