Had installed the newly coated wheels. The other set I'll retrieve Saturday. Gloss Black.

The wheels look great.

I've considered selling both sets, tires have 90%+ all around, and picking up a set of 18 inchers. Hmmm. Upland? You're right up the street. |
A very long, long street. But we are almost neighbors. Riverside PCA has several events coming up. Please consider joining us. The California Festival of Speed is April 20th - 22nd. Saturday is the best day to attend. Entry is free all 3 days, but parking is $15.
California Festival of Speed | Zone 8 - Porsche Club of America We also meet for breakfast in Beaumont the first Saturday of each month. +/- 40 people and +/-20 cars. We always have something going on. Porsche Club of America Riverside Region – Welcome to the Porsche Club of America Riverside Region (PCA-RsR). |
Finally finished replacing the soft top tonight. I have some serious wrinkles along the side, I'll probably go back and clean those up on a rainy day in the future - I suspect it was too cold for the tape to stick as well as it should. Overall looks a whole lot better than with the old yellow cracked window, though.
Yet another project that would go twice as fast if I ever had to do it again. Seems to be a lot of those with these cars. |

I did my top on Thursday. An 03 top on my 01. It's a used top that looks used, but very nice. No thin patches in the cloth. Best part is it has a glass window. Buying a top with the cloth & stuff already installed on the frame sure makes it easy. My only criticism is that the top itself doesn't look as pleasing as the 01 top did. The frame bows are way to prominent. |

Tried out my new scissors lift. Very pleased.
Great access from and rear. Very tight clearance to roll over it so will need some timber each side to get car higher and facilitate the supports. For this I rolled the car over the lift and it touched. I would not drive over it as the car wouldn’t clear with me in it. Put some ply wood on a spacers on the arms just to check it out. Also get to use the wheel dollies to store it away when not in use. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d940296833.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e0ce2c6c8b.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bcedd01963.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2fc9e75254.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
Looks good.
What is the working height of that lift? If you have to work stooped it often leads to back pain. So maybe working while sitting on a chair can be a good option with these scissor lifts. But the height must be right. |

Center of rear hub is 1.37m or 4’6”. A roll around seat and it’s fine. I was sick of axle stands. Just trying to get it up on them was a pain, and always nervous something would slip while jacking it up.

Corona C&C at Steve Saleen's CA shops. This is a '69 912. The car has been in the same family since new. Father to son who stated the car has over 400K miles on it. Repainted in the 90's. Motor was recently redone. I love this car.

How's access to the engine? I decided to just replace the vinyl window instead of getting an 03 or 04 top because Woody mentioned it was harder to work on the engine after the switch. |
Got some new 17" Cayman wheels, I really like them and they are a little different than most Boxsters.

The trade off, having a clear glass window, is worth it for me. |

I plan to replace the top of my 1999 Boxster in May. Cloth shrinkage tore the top of the plastic window away from the cloth stiching Couldn't see threw the window anymore. How bad was the job, how long did it take, and did you need any special tools or additional parts? Did you use the Pelican instructions? Any help, and thanks! Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk |

My 5 year old is off school on spring break this week, so we spent the day driving around running errands. First test of my new Michelin Super Sports in the rain - so much better traction than the all-season tires I had before, even in mid-40 degree temps. We stopped at the local dealership to pick up a few parts, and drooled over a 991 Targa in the showroom. I think I need one of those.

Tool-wise, nothing more obscure than a set of torx bits is needed. The thing that made the job take so many days for me was materials - I had some double-sided Gorilla Tape which I tried first, but that didn't work. All of the guides recommend 3M 06384 tape, and they're absolutely right. Make sure to get two rolls of this - I was lucky that a local O'Relly had it in stock, otherwise I would have been waiting longer. I'd also recommend grabbing a can of 3M 08090 adhesive spray. The 3 guides I followed were all helpful, and it was nice to reference different perspectives on things the handful of times I got stuck - they all did it slightly differently, and I'd recommend reading/watching all before doing the job. |

Drove to work in anticipation of sunny warm afternoon drive home. I was rewarded with 70 degree sunny afternoon and first topless drive of the year taking the long curvy route home!
I also received my new speakers today so almost everything on hand to execute stero upgrade.:) |

I got the car out for PA state inspection. I found a nice garage in State College PA that knows German cars and high performance "race" cars. Everything passed, and he said it was in excellent condition. I hit 45000 miles on the ride home.

Flat bedded mine home after terminal news from the repair shop. Metal in the oil filter. Now I have to figure which motor would be the better most cost effective way to go? Replacing injectors does not appear to be too costly or difficult. Advise is welcome.

This week I moved the snow blower and pulled the cover off and was able to get in a few rides. Not top-down yet as we are still in the upper 30s to 40s, but the roads were clear and I could not wait any longer. Looking forward to a long Summer with plenty of top down driving.
*Update, 5" of snow last night and cold temps this week... glad I got in a few rides because now I'm on hold again. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1522512087.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1522512233.jpg |
Oil change, X51 baffle installed, oil pump piston upgrade. AND, think my WP might be on the way out. Found a tiny bit of dry coolant under the pully. I will keep and eye on it for now. Good news, no ferrous gunk in the oil or on my mag plug. No debris in the pickup. A couple of little rubber chunks and oddly enough, one of the pins the stock baffle flap attaches to had broken off and was sitting in the bottom of the pan. No reason to believe the pan had ever been off the car before, so not a bad report for 16yrs and 58k.

Wrapped My Cneter Console
I wrapped my center console in flat black 3M vinyl wrap. A friend had some scrap left over so I gave it a shot. The previous owner had done a rather poor paint job on it. I am very happy with the color and texture result but I had some creases up by the shifter on the drivers side. I wasn't hard to do, way easier that repainting. I plan to redo it to fix the creases once I get some more wrap.

Ordered a set of Bilstein B4 struts. The stock struts are plenty firm enough for me. Old ones are just tired and blown. From the Rock, for $780 shipped.
Removed and cleaned the MAF again. It's now working, but I don't know how well since s pecs aren't readily available. Was getting nothing, now getting 2% or so. New MAF is coming tomorrow, so I'll do it all again. Today, a tune up, I hope. Getting pretty hot here in the afternoons. & this week, replacing my worn out metro blue carpeting with some much less worn black. |
Got emissions test
