Very nice! I love that color scheme on the wheels as well.

Cleaned the Snow Off

Oh, how I hate you owners who live in warm climates ;) This is all new snow that fell over the weekend in Calgary, Alberta. It was clean prior to Friday.

Pictures like this, remind me again, why I am FROM Buffalo, NY.

Installed led interior-light kit

I converted all my interiro light bulds to led. Found a new problem and self induced another.

Lesson learned 18 year old plastic is very brittle. Broke clip that holds dome light in place. Trying a temp fix while i order a new one.

Found frunk light is in op and seems this is a normal problem.

Received pioneer single din head unit, in prep for audio upgrade.

Cunningr 03-08-2018 10:35 AM

Installed led interior-light kit

and now ordered convienience light $15 plus shipping!

oldskool73 03-08-2018 02:41 PM

if it's not too late, try ordering the newer switch type dome light instead of the old rocker type, the newer one has metal clips that won't break. Will need a new connector but it's pretty easy to source. See http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/58525-dome-light-swap-97-04-type-possible.html

Wish i knew this i ordered it and it shipped already! Next time.... At any rate my temp fix superglueing a misding tab back on is holding for the moment. Love the extra light, just wish the color was in the warmer zone.

Thanks for the note too....

I broke my Boxster out of winter storage, made sure everything was in fine order, fired it up, warmed it up, and drove all over my town with the top down. Sunny winter day with 40-ish daytime temperatures - a perfect day for a drive! Froze my keister off, but it was excellent! Now to get it cleaned up, and ready for warmer weather!

Taillight tinting

Turned the amber red and tinted taillights and side markers while I wait on the weather. I'll upload photos if I get around to resizing

Blew one of my titanium mufflers open for the 2nd time. Time to pull it off and take it back to the exhaust shop. Good thing I still have some titanium welding rod left from the last time!

Took it out for its first drive of 2018....100 km to warm up the gearbox oil before I changed it! Its a gorgeous day and above freezing. The highways were dry. That Porsche stuff is $$$ but it seems less notchy already based on the short test drive. I also changed the little rubber dam in front of the front tire. :)

😍😍😍 Got my new badge!!

TeamOxford 03-11-2018 04:17 PM

Watched the new owner drive away in Scarlett, my MY99 Boxster. Sold within 21 hours after posting on Craigslist.

The new owner is a private aircraft owner with experience working on horizontally opposed engines. Hopefully, he can get the engine back up to spec and enjoy the hell out of it like I have during the last five years.

Enjoying the Cayman, but the Boxster is much more fun to drive.

It's not spring until Ray has re-painted a set of wheels. But with the weather outside my window last night, it seems I've got plenty of time!

Even for Norway this winter has been VERY snow heavy.

replaced the fuel pump yesterday, quite easy following the pelican parts tech write-up.

Dropper her off at my local indie mechanic for service. Going to get a full array of filters and oil. Also going ahead and have sparkplugs changed, not due until 60K km but they have not been changed in at least 5 years, i suspect they are the original plugs that came in the car. The tires were, i change them last summer.

rp17 03-12-2018 04:56 PM

Nice looking car..

Went for a drive for the first time since a rando 50 degree day in January. Good timing for it to start warming up too - the clutch master cylinder on my winter car just exploded, and I'd much rather spend the nice days driving the car rather than being under it.

Also got some new goodies on the way next week or so - set of Carrera Light wheels, Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and a new top.

BrokenLinkage 03-14-2018 10:04 PM

@dghii - Yes, yes I did!

Cunningr 03-15-2018 12:00 AM

Picked her up from the Annual service plus spark plugs. I don't know what else my mechanic did but the car is running way better than it ever has.

It is raining still so not much driving took her back home and did a spot cleaning. lol:dance:

Brian in Tucson 03-15-2018 06:25 AM

I got a very nice 3 spoke steering wheel last night. Going to replace my thrashed wheel today! Oh! to have a wheel that isn't shedding its coating and doesn't have curled plastic around the tiptronic switches.

I cleaned the MAF sensor, topped off the power steering fluid and did a general checkup of the top side of my engine. Replacement engine is running so nice!

fridsten 03-16-2018 12:09 AM

I booked a small service for the upcoming season and decided when to get my new tires delivered.
The car is far away (400 miles) and spring looks even further away, as it's -7°C here at the moment...
I'm also getting my new muffler modified (again) this weekend.

Anker 03-16-2018 04:47 AM

AM having Bridgestone RE-71Rs mounted on one set of rims today. The Sumitomo HTR's from thtose rims are going to a set that previously had snow tires mounted. Getting ready for the AX season, and maybe a DE or two.

I took mine to Harbor Freight and Safeway today. With the top down. It was +75F here today. Kinda too hot.

Went on a Picnic Run with our car club to Cataract Dam (south of Sydney). Out of 9 cars 3 were Porsches, 2006 Cayman S, 1960 356 Coupe and my 2003 Boxster S. Great Day.

Damn the snow and cold temps, ordered a new set of tires. Hope to get them mounted before the end of the month, need to check out my brakes and rotors too and then I should be ready for a full season of happy Boxster driving.

Boy, I miss Sydney. Especially when its cold and miserable, like right now, in the Northeast US! If I could, I would move back.

1999, Arena Red, Graphite Grey interior.

The new owner stopped by today and bought the factory hardtop from me. Sweet!

Cunningr 03-18-2018 10:18 AM

I always liked that color red on the boxster!

I gave my boxster a pat on the kester! I also started cutting that extra set of door speaker boxes to mount the 6.5” not going fast, need a better way to cut the plastic.

On an up note weather appears to be drying up so might get some actual wheel time in.

Pepik 03-18-2018 02:01 PM

I've been trying to get busy before it gets too hot to work in the garage during the day, so I took care of some small things that needed doing:
  1. Fixed radio speaker grounding issue -- since I'm using the factory amp, I just left the speaker wires loose, and one got smushed up against the back of the radio. Doh! I heat-shrank them and reinstalled.
  2. While I was in there, I also swapped the two wires for ignition and constant power -- my radio was reset every time the car was shut off, just a minor annoyance, but fixed now.
  3. Wired in the reverse wire under the driver's seat to my radio in preparation for a backup camera. That was the first time I removed the seat, so now I know how to do that. Getting the connector off was tricky if you've never done it before (there's a part that slide over to lock and unlock it).
  4. Reset airbag code with Durametric (again). I may need a new seatbelt receptacle, it wasn't due to #3....
  5. Fixed the passenger side mirror (plug was just loose)
  6. Discovered that my newly-replaced vinyl window leaks in at least two places
  7. Drove her all over town (before the rain)

I put a little digital volt gauge in the dash--where the left cigar lighter would be. My old Dodge Dakota has better instrumentation than my Boxster.

Brian in Tucson 03-20-2018 09:55 AM

I drove my Dakota to Phoenix yesterday to visit 20th Street Autos, a good used parts source on 40th street. I bought a nice 03 top, a carpet set, factory floor mats, and a used console with a working lock and undamaged hinge. All for my 01 base. turning into a pretty nice car after the previous owner ran it into the ground.

++++ as a local who has purchased parts from 20th Street. They specialize in Porsche used parts.

Cunningr 03-20-2018 12:32 PM

Drove 150 mile round trip to dermatoligist :(. But at least finally got a decent drive in.
Also continue work on door speaker box modification. Working on cutting the lip off recess 6.5” adaptor.
